This gorgeous 1971 Porsche 914 Targa finished in rare Gold Metallic was the product of a show quality restoration. It was the recipient of two First Place Awards at the Westfest Car Show and the blue ribbons are included. The Porsche 914 is a mid-engine sports car designed, manufactured and marketed collaboratively by Volkswagen and Porsche for model years 1969-1976. It was available as a targa-topped two-seat roadster across a single generation. This example was assembled in Osnabruck, West Germany in January of 1971. It's accompanied with a Porsche Certificate of Authenticity that was issued on February 3rd, 2014. As documented it was ordered with the following optional equipment: US Specifications w/ sun test, special paint, tinted side glass, electric heated rear window, forged wheels and center arm rest console. The Gold Metallic code #88 was an optional “special order” color offered in the early 1970's and is seldom seen. While rare, the exact total count across the 914 models remains unknown. This car was purchased by in October of 2012 by Karl Manderbach who lives in Loveland, Colorado. Karl had a plan to restore this car to high standards and rolled up his sleeves. The entire 3-year restoration from start to finish was documented with hundreds and hundreds of photos. A thumb drive and a book with all the photos are included. The original owner's manual, 914 shop manual CD and new binder with organized receipts in plastic sleeves is also included. Since completion in 2015 this car has been treated with excellent care. MS CLASSIC CARS purchased the car directly from Karl Manderbach in March of 2026 and April of 2026 is the first time it's been listed for sale. This is a great opportunity to purchase a beautiful example of a Porsche 914 that's being offered with NO RESEVRE on a Bring-A-Trailer online auction.
The exterior of this Porsche 914 is simply stunning with its stylish factory design and beautiful paint. During the restoration process this body was stripped to a bare shell. The body work and paint was a collaboration with Ronin Motorsport, Restoration Design and Custom Auto. As documented with receipts over $30,000.00 was invested just in the body alone. While the bodywork was being completed hundreds of hours were spent cleaning and restoring all parts. The body is laser straight throughout with excellent panel fitment. The front hood sits a little high because of the new rubber seal. It was refinished in its original color of Gold Metallic. The lower section around the bottom was refinished in the correct black color. The high show quality paint was recently detailed by the team at MS CLASSIC CARS. A walk-around presentation video with an LED flashlight is listed in the gallery. The black targa top was restored and looks excellent. The front windshield and rear windshield was replaced new. Everything on the exterior was restored or replaced new such as the stainless trim, antenna, lights, lenses, door handles, rubber seals, engine cover, front and rear chrome bumpers. It's equipped with 7” Hella H4 sealed beam headlights. The car was recently outfitted with new 17x7 Klassik Radar wheels that are gloss black with machined lip with milled edges. The wheels are mounted to new Firestone Firehawk Indy 500 205/50/17 tires. A set of original restored 15” Pedrini wheels with Uniroyal Tiger Paw Touring 185/65/15 tires are included. The team at MS CLASSIC CARS installed the new front windshield molding, wheels and tires. Please note, MS CLASSIC CARS also replaced the driver's mirror after the photos were taken.
The interior of this Porsche 914 is in beautiful overall condition. It was restored in its original color of black which complements the exterior black appointments. The re-assembly began with the installation of the restored wiring harness and installing sound deadening on all the interior panels. A NOS dash pad and dash face material was sourced and installed. It's equipped with a correct dated steering wheel. Everything was restored or replaced such as the sun visors, rear view mirror, VDO gauges, sill plates, door hardware, bucket seats, seat belts, center console, carpeting, shifter and pedals. The only minor deviation from keeping the car completely stock was the addition of the aftermarket door panels resembling those in a 911. Everything in the interior is in working order including the radio. The painted front storage compartment is very detailed throughout. It retains its original VIN stamp and tag which are shown in the photo gallery. Read more on www.msclassi
