INTRODUCTION: Stunning factory colors, PHS documented. It was frame off restored and the gentleman passed away, the family parked it in their basement for 30 years! It has just 54 miles on the restoration, we just spent $8500 servicing the car with new tires, going through the brakes etc.
EXTERIOR: Man, you talk about a knockout! This GTO was born in Starlight Black with a red interior and red accents- an absolutely stunning factory color combination! No vinyl top here, just beautiful straight metal covered in glossy black paint that's been polished smooth. The chrome and trim have been replaced, the doors open and close beautifully, and the weatherstrips have been replaced. It features dual mirrors, the correct antenna, reproduction T3 headlamps, and a crystal clear windshield. The finishing touch is a set of Rally I wheels wrapped in brand new radial redline tires. Black paint, redlines, and that red interior peeking through the glass-this GTO has a serious presence!
INTERIOR: Have you ever sat inside a GTO with a red interior? It's really something special, especially contrasted against the black exterior. The Rally dash includes the gauges and tachometer along with the original AM radio and the dash pad looks like new. The passenger side features the GTO emblem and grab handle. The owner's manual is even tucked inside the glove box. The seats have nice firm cushions and have been completely reupholstered, while the door panels and armrests have been replaced. A fresh looking red carpet is fitted with reproduction mats, and right in the middle is what you want to see- a Hurst 4-speed shifter sticking out of the floor! The three spoke deluxe steering wheel is a nice looking option in great shape as well.
ENGINE COMPARTMENT: When I owned a GTO, everyone asked me, "Is there a Tri-Power under the hood?" I hated telling them no. With this one, you won't have that problem! It retains its original 389 engine- the unit number matches the Protect-O-Plate and it's been upgraded with a factory Tri-Power setup. Not only does it look cool and nostalgic, but put your foot into it and you'll hear those three deuces open up and feel the difference! The rest of the engine compartment maintains a very stock appearance with factory manifolds, valve covers and components, reproduction hose clamps and battery cables. The metal surfaces are nicely painted, the hardware looks fresh, the original cowl tag remains in place, the windshield squirters are hooked up, and the battery is properly secured. Pop the hood and this is exactly what everyone hopes to see in a classic GTO!
TRUNK COMPARTMENT: It is clean, complete, and nicely detailed. Under the trunk lid and throughout the jambs you'll find clean painted surfaces with the factory seams still visible, and the weatherstrip has been replaced. Inside is rock solid metal finished in a nicely applied spatter paint with the correct two piece trunk mat. It's finished off properly with a matching Rally wheel wearing an old school spare tire, along with the complete jack assembly.
UNDERSIDE: The body was off the frame, and underneath it's restored to a high level. The floors appear to be pristine original metal and were properly prepped and painted black. The frame and chassis components are equally clean, finished in smooth semi gloss black. The ride & handling suspension was completely rebuilt, the brakes were redone, lines were replaced, e-brake hooked up and it retains Pontiac's big finned drum brakes. It also has a factory style dual exhaust system, and replaced fuel system. Looking up, the 389 is clean Pontiac blue with the proper starter. It's backed by a fresh looking Muncie M20 4-speed with Hurst linkage, sending power through the driveshaft to the rear end with highway friendly 3.08 gears.
SERVICE: We take pride in our cars and our reputation. Every vehicle goes through our service department where it is inspected, test driven, and we address the essentials before offering it for sale.
CONCLUSION: I'm around gorgeous cars all the time, and if I saw this GTO sitting at a car show, I'd have to walk over and check it out. The Starlight Black with that red interior and redlines is just an awesome combination and then you add the Tri-Power, 4-speed and Rally gauges. It really checks the boxes! There are other GTOs for sale, but they're not this one.
