When does a trailer require Registration/Titling/License/Service Fee in WI?
In accordance with the Wisconsin State Law, a trailer over 3,000 lb. GVWR is required to be registered. Registration/License cost is dependent on the trailer’s GVWR and the month in which it is registered. Titling cost is $214.50, plate issuance fee is $6, and a service fee of $179 which is a fee for dealer document processing, this fee is not negotiable.
Customers do not need to register a trailer at time of purchase with the dealership. Customers may choose to register the trailer independently with the appropriate state motor vehicle agency, subject to all applicable laws, regulations, fees, and registration deadlines.
