1973 Datsun 240Z for sale, it has been a labor of love and a lot of fun! Regularly upgraded and meticulously maintained along with always being garaged and properly stored each winter. This 240Z is in mechanically excellent shape and ready to be enjoyed on the road or for track days as is, or as a excellent base to finish the cosmetic work.
Originating from California and living most of its life there, I shipped it east 13 years ago. It’s never been driven in winter and with only limited exposure to rain, even though the wipers, heaters (rebuilt electrically and mechanically), and defrosters work fine. The body and chassis has all its original unibody sub-frame connectors, floor pans, battery tray, etc… all in good condition. I’ve had the Bad Dog Parts subframe connectors properly welded in for additional rigidity. I’d be glad to put it on a lift or jack it up for a closer inspection.
The vehicle currently shows 91,000 miles on the odometer, 12,000 of which was put on by me. The low miles over the years can be attributed to it being off the road during the engine rebuild and transmission swap, then it had only minimal drive time over the past few years while I played with a dedicated track car.
Over the past decade, all major mechanical systems have been rebuilt and/or upgraded, including the engine, transmission (5 speed), suspension, brakes and drivetrain. I mostly focused on performance and reliability while keeping the spirit of its origins. It now handles, stops and performs like a much more modern car while still having that classic shape. Many of the original parts are included as well. I also have an almost complete stack of receipts, available for review.
While the mechanical components are in excellent shape and the body is sound, the interior and exterior finish presents an opportunity for upgrade, completion and personalization. A substantial collection of parts is included with the sale, providing almost everything needed to complete the interior (plastic, vinyl, carpets, lights etc.).
The exterior as shown in the pictures is covered in a spray on plastic wrap (Plastidip, 10+ layers). Easily peelable in an hour or so. Underneath that, it came to me with a much older repaint similar to Chevy hugger orange. The original color was Datsun’s Burnt Orange, evident in the engine bay, door jams and through the thinning 70’s under coat.
The car as it is today is fully functional, fun to drive, passes Massachusetts State Inspection yearly, and can perform both reliably and safely during spirited track days or a long cruise through the countryside.
