1987 Ford Bronco
The Bronco was introduced by Ford in 1966 and was produced over 5 generations before being discontinued in 1996. The popularity of them has remained strong in the classic car market which likely contributed to their reintroduction of a 6th generation in 2021 which is still being produced today. They were originally developed as a compact off road vehicle that received its own chassis and was Ford's competitor for the Jeep CJ-5 and International Scout. Later in their run they increased in size to compete with the Chevy Blazer and Dodge Ramcharger. Interestingly, they were originally conceived by the designer of the Ford Mustang who clearly had an impressive track record. In the 80's Ford had a clever idea to target outdoor hobbyists that had families by combining the rugged utility vehicle with more upscale features and modern comfort. That is when they discovered purchasers of Eddie Bauer outdoor clothing were also those in the market for family friendly utility vehicles and the perfect collaboration was made. They featured earth-tone colors, a more luxurious interior and all the bells and whistles available at the time. This nice 1987 is a very nice example and is fully documented via the Marti Report. It also received the XLT package from the factory which was the top tier sitting just below the Eddie Bauer. The SUV was built on 6/12/87 before being sold in 7/7/87 via a dealer in Morton, Washington. The vehicle has been repainted but was done in its original Chestnut Metallic. The body is in great condition with all original door panels and no accident history. The original chrome grill and bumpers are in great condition and in back small aftermarket off road lights have been added. It also has smoked taillights and ProTuningLab headlights with LED surround. The chrome mirrors are easily adjustable and offer plenty of visibility. The glass is all good throughout with no chips or scratches and the door glass seals and tailgate sweeps are new. It has a Rough Country 2.5 inch lift kit, new wheel flairs, and new sidesteps. The Black XD Series wheels look great on it and are wrapped with Toyo A/T Open Country Xtreme tires.
Powering this 4x4 down the road is its factory 5.0L 302 ci V8 motor. It runs very strong and is fitted with electronic fuel injection. Backing up the motor is a 4 speed automatic overdrive transmission that sends power back to the 3.55 rear. Per the documentation other special order features include the handling package, skid plates, an engine block heater, electric rear window defroster, power brakes, power steering, power locks, power windows, cruise control, and AC/Heat. Again, these models were fully loaded with all available comfort options.
The interior features its original Chestnut cloth captain's chairs which are very comfortable and in good condition. It has high back bucket seats that sit to each side of the factory center console. To keep everything in great condition the vehicle is stored with paper mats, a drivers seat cover and a steering wheel cover. The dash features all of its original features including the Eddie Bauer wood trim pieces. It has its factory ordered Optimus AM/FM/Cassette player that sounds great. The rear bench seat is in great shape and behind that is plenty of storage space and the spare with cover.
