I have a NEW Chevy Dart Big M block. It is a tall deck 10.200, compared to a 454 with a 9.800 deck height. It is finish bored/honed to 4.500. It also has bronze .904 lifter bores. Block is FULLY machined by Grose Racing Engines in Lodi. Block is decked to 10.195, new coated cam bearings installed, mains aline honed, and cylinders honed with his new CNC digital hone, along with new brass freeze plugs and oil galley plugs. With $1200+ work of machine work done, plus another $850 to lifer bore the block, that is over $2000 worth of free machine work done, compared to buying a new block for $4500.
I bought this to be a spare block for my Nova, but found an aluminum block I want more.
Using a 4.250 stroke = 540ci
A 4.375 stroke = 557ci
A 4.500 stroke = 572ci
A 4.625 stroke = 588ci
A 4.750 stroke = 604ci
