It is built around a seasoned GM 2-bolt block that has been studded for added strength. The rotating assembly includes a new Eagle crankshaft with a 2-piece rear main seal, new Scat I-beam connecting rods, new Wiseco forged pistons, new moly file-fit rings gapped for power-adder use, King rod and main bearings, a Melling oil pump, and a billet Torrington timing set.
The engine has a 10.2:1 static compression ratio, making it suitable for pump-gas applications. It features a Howards solid roller camshaft with .663"/.663" valve lift, 249°/249° duration at .050", and a 112° lobe separation angle. This cam delivers excellent torque, strong mid-range and upper-RPM power, and a great lopey idle.
The top end features new PBM StrikeForce aluminum rectangular-port heads equipped with 2.25" intake and 1.88" severe-duty exhaust valves, PBM Erson valve springs, retainers and locks, Elgin stainless full roller rockers, and 7/16" screw-in rocker studs with guideplates. The valvetrain is girdled for added stability and reliability. The engine also includes black fabricated valve covers, a Champ 8-quart kickout oil pan, and a Speedmaster intake manifold.
