Here is a little run down on the motor

I purchased a car and the motor was in it. The car was off the road for almost 30 years before I got it and back on the road. The older gentleman who owned it passed away and i bought it from his son and he didn't know much but said it was a 402 bbc and that was about it.

I know its a 396 block and when I scoped the cylinder I was able to get a number to identify piston but I saw another number that looked like a 6 so it may be possibly .60 over but I cannot confirm that. When I pulled motor and cleaned it up I did see there was a vertical mark in a cylinder couldn't feel with finger but I was able to see it and making it known I know a hone would wash it away. Only thing I would do to motor is clean the oil pickup screen and throw new pan gasket on which it comes with and thats it.

Without knowing the exact deck clearance and head gasket thickness
I did a base of 0.015- 0.25 on deck clearance and head gasket stock to larger 0.022/0.038*****

Lowest compression ratio 11.78

Highest compression ratio 12.65

Definitely is a high compression motor with the pistons and heads

I do not know the exact amount of miles but definitely not alot
