If you were to ask me which two drag strips (currently open) I consider to be “legendary”, I’d probably answer Island Dragway and Gainesville, which makes my recent experience at these two legendary strips – in two COMPLETELY different cars – even more memorable.
As the holiday season approaches, the racing season begins to come to a close. While this is a sad time of year for us race fans, this means a time to celebrate for all those hard-working drivers out there including the newest champions of the World of Outlaws NOS Energy Drink Sprint Car Series and Morton Buildings Late Models. After a rather challenging season, both Brad Sweet and Brandon Sheppard would both find a reason to breathe a sigh of relief after racing to one of their most memorable championships ever at The Dirt Track at Charlotte.
The African American Racers Association (AARA) was launched September 1, 2020 by co-founders Christopher Harris and Sinclair Gordon. The AARA is focused on recognizing and promoting African American contributions and spotlighting individuals, businesses and organizations that exemplify equality within the motorsports world.

Kasey Kahne Racing and its driver James McFadden raced to an emotional World of Outlaws NOS Energy Drink Sprint Car Series victory on Saturday night at Lake Ozark Speedway. In a race that was dedicated to former World of Outlaws sprint car driver Jason Johnson, who passed away following a frightening crash at Beaver Dam Raceway in 2018, Australian based driver McFadden made his long-awaited return to the United States after five months to continue running the Karavan Trailers #9 car for Kasey Kahne Racing and taking this run to a long-awaited and exciting win.
Michael Jordan, an NBA legend and one of the greatest athletes of all time, has agreed to purchase a NASCAR Cup Series Charter and named Bubba Wallace to be the driver for “His Airness” and partner Denny Hamlin when the 2021 NASCAR Cup Series season begins.
The NHRA went through a gauntlet of postponements amid the COVID-19 pandemic. Then the NHRA finally went forward with a revised Mello Yello Drag Racing Series schedule that restarted with two-consecutive races at the storied Lucas Oil Raceway at Indianapolis in Indiana. But not all drivers were enthusiastic about the new plan. Sixteen-time Funny Car world champion and NHRA legend John Force sidelined his four-car team for the restart of the Mello Yello Drag Racing Series season. The driver of the PEAK BlueDEF Chevrolet Camaro SS announced today that John Force Racing will remain sidelined for the 2020 season.
