My name is Robert Swartz. I used to race back in 70's-80's. Still have my 66 Chevy II that was purchased in 1978. Two things drew me to this site. The first is a desire at the ripe young age of 53 to begin the resurrection of this old car. The second is, I have been looking for an 80's roller Mustang to build me a new bracket car.

A little more background. I had two 1967 Mustangs and a Pinto (imagine that'll get a couple snickers) that I raced in the 70's. Back in those days, a couple of my running buddies were Toby and Kenny Meek, if you look up the old record books for both NHRA-IHRA, they held a couple of national recors and a few class wins in both Stock and Modified Production.

I started my Nova in 1979. Due to a stint with Uncle Sam, a friend of mine raced the car for a few years until I got home in 1984. We raced it on and off till 1988. Then marriage, job changes, mortgages, other hobbies and such dominated my life.

Hope there's room for somebody that's behind the curve and has alot of catching up to do,

Hi,
My name is Rudy, very cool site! Had my '68 Camaro up for sale or trade for the last 6 months, trying various media outlets, all of which absolutely stunk!! Then comes along RacingJunk!! WOOOOOOOHOOOOOOO! Now I am in my FIRST dragster and the Camaro has a new owner! Although I only traded, I DID make an honor payment and met a really good guy that described his car to the "T". I am vey happy!! I have filled out the profile if anyone wants to know who I am and where I am from. The only cofrontation I have had on here was from some fellow named Eric a.k.a. olds48. Anybody know him? Just kidding Eric, glad I got a response out of you, it makes me glad someone read my post and replied to it, didn't waste any time smacking me though!! LOL! No problems with E, heck of a nice guy, although he drives a OL...., just can't get that word across my lips!!

Thanks again!! I will be here from now on!!

1. How come I see some folks on here with no profile and have been on here for YEARS?

2. Why do these same folks not pay any honor payments?

3. We have been on Ebay for 8 years selling stuff (99.3). Why can't sellers be required to have a verified PayPal account to sell? You do not HAVE to pay thru Paypal and incur the fees, but you will have an outlet to go back to if you are screwed out of your dough if you do use them.

Anyway,,just my 2 cents worth.

Guess I shouldn't have messed with a leatherneck  I know what you mean about honor payments.I was always curious,if I put out a wanted ad,and I end buying what I was looking for,how do I go about paying an honor payment?

Hello,

My name is Michael and I am from Houston Texas (actually Tomball).

After a multi year hiatus from turning wrenches and having my own pet project, I have decided its time for a new toy.

Having restored multiple Camaro's in my past I am trying to venture over to the sister line of the F-Body. I am looking for a 1975 Trans Am project car, I have always liked the big black (ugly) bumpers for some reason. Besides with the opera rear window and these bumpers its a unique year.

So I decided to join this forum to broaden my search possibilities, plus tap into an enormous knowledge base.

Thanks for having me as part of your site, I look forward to being a contributing member.

Michael

currently building a 67 2dr chevy II sedan. Should be on the road with the 194 in a couple weeks. I want to take it to the track to see how my runs improve over time. I'm building a mild supercharged LT1 block for it. Don't expect to win anything, just have fun.

also building a BMW 325 track only car, but that's on the far backburner set to "warm"

also own 64 impala vert 409/425 (not original) 70 el camino SS 396, 56 Nomad, and 97 BMW M3

21 mpg in a 66? That's incredible...the day before I bought my 64 I was looking at a 66. Left my number and the guy didn't call until 2 days later. Had to tell him he lucked out. 65 and 66 are sweet cars.

my 64 is in too many pieces to get a good pic  but here's the engine:

http://ww2.impala.ws:5204/images/Julius409.jpg

as soon as the chevyii is on the road, the Impala starts reassembly mode

the Nomad is still in my Dad's garage. That's another winter project...very easy restore: engine, 1/4 panel, and paint.[/img]

Man those w-motors had some beautiful valve covers.21 mpg in a 66...well it is a factory 327 with a powerglide so that means it comes with airplane gears in the rearend.2.73s.So with a 2.73 gear,a 237/75r15 tire and a 4 speed(no slippage) it turns 1700 rpm at 55 mph and only 2000 rpm at 65 :D Throw in a GM crate motor(Fastburn 385)with a tight duration hydraulic roller and you got yourself a decent little cruiser!Get 18 mpg highway with the A/C on :D Just hope I never pull up beside you with that big w-motor..I'll get smoked for sure!!

I work for Bowtech Archery, I am a Corp. rep/account mgr. Basicly, I set up dealers & sell them bows & product. We also sell Ross, Diamond compound, etc... Live in Oregon near the ocean. I have only been arrested once... & since then, I quit drinking (Irish). Like dirt bikes, but I get hurt too much so I am getting away from that. I like Waylon Jennings & still think the 80's were cool... I love my country & respect others when they should be respected. Having said this, Obama Hussen Barack akceem' abduhl mohamma is not one of those people. Thanks to you all for answering all of my dumb questions so I don't blow-up my newest motor. Cheers

Greetings everyone.

My name is Kenny and I reside on Long Island, in NY. I am a big fan of the NASCAR Whelan Modified Tour and my local track is Riverhead Raceway.

I was a bigger fan of the racing at Islip Speedway, but that track was shut down over 20 years ago, but my memories of that track have never faded. Islip was such a great venue.

Anywho, just wanted to say hello.

Hey guys. I am Scott from Iowa and I am a Drive train Test lab supervisor for John Deere. I spent 6 years in the Air Force keeping watch on Iraq shortly after the 1st Gulf War working on the U-2. I worked for a Chevy dealership for 4 years after I graduated from Universal Technical Institute with a degree in Auto / Diesel. I know this may sound crazy, but I am bored with my '68 Camaro SS 350. :(

http://www.racingjunk.com/post/1366797/1968-CAMARO-SS-350.html

I am one of those guys that would rather plug in a laptop or use a multi meter to tune and troubleshoot a car that change jets and use a test light!! I must be posessed!! Anyway thanks for the great site.

My name is Chris, I too have been on here for awhile and figured it was time to add my name to this list. I am a parts director for a very large (8 franchise) dealership in east-central Illinois and have worked for the same dealer over 20 years. I have been a drag racing fan since the 80's and started running down the strip in my own rides in 2005. I have enjoyed some of the banter and humor on the forum. I have bought 2 vehicles on here. I got screwed hard on 1 trade but learned a lot of lessons from that deal. All the guys are great on here!!

Hi everyone what a great sight I came across. Love the easy flow and access to each forum with good insight from dudes with knowledge.

Have been looking across parts pages on here for upgrades to my ride and found a local guy in St.Catharine's Ontario I contacted.

Not quite a fifty year old young guy who loves nice street cars. In process of upgrading my 81 Z28 under the hood for a little more bite.

If I ask stupid question that's the part of me learning more.

Sure is a lot of self help on here though just reading many all ready asked questions.

Glynn Williford, aka Dr Hot Rod! Home office near Memphis.

43 yr old father of one son; Taylor now 16.

Former bracket racer, freelance journalist and the only person in America to ever intern with Diamond P Sports when they were NHRA's right hand.

Mother and father were both bracket racers. In fact, Mother beat Joe Lunati's wife in the money run of the very first powder puff race she ever entered.

Current Drag Strip Announcer at Memphis Motorsports Park.

Learned about calling drag races from the two best to ever do it.

Dave McClelland devoted his life to this sport and he and his lovely wife were as kind and gentle to a scared college kid as any loving parents could have been to their own children.
He displayed grace and dignity at all times and I never heard him say a cross word about another individual. He reportedly founded Super Chevy Sunday and if I sit silently, I can still hear his rich baratone voice thundering throughout the PA system.

Steve Evans was a firey guy from Southern California that is credited with as much of the sports development in its golden years as any one individual. He's credited with the trademark cliche beckon call of our industry which sets us apart from all other motorsport, "SUNDAY SUNDAY SUNDAY!"
Legend has it that he reportedly told John Force just to follow his lead in the interviews and he'd make him a star.

Ironically, I can recall sitting in Darrell Russell's trailer at Memphis in the Summer of 1996 with his dad and brother in the cramped living quarters of the red Chapparal that always flew the State flag of Texas. If I ever got lost in the pits, I knew I would be ok when I saw their flag. I remember sitting there asking Darrell when he was going to turn pro.
The ironic part is that Steve Evans asked him the same question when he won the US Nationals one year later!

Thats my story..or stories...and I'm stickin' to 'em!

The Doctor is In!

Hey do you know Mike Wambo, Tim pace, or Steve Stykes?
They all run at blue mountain, pickwick and Jackson.
I don't get around much anymore, I got a old rickity trailor with rethreads for tires.
I'm 10 miles from memphis motorsports park as a crow flys but I never go there any more. Poor management, plus they dont have a regular bracket program, just last weekend they cancelled a big money race at the last minute, pissed off alot of folks.

Byhaliaraceway is my home town track, its where I cut my teeth dragracing years ago.

If they're open, I'm there every saturday night.

Next time your rolling down 78 pass up Holly Springs and George Howards B/S and cmon on up to Byhalia, you'll enjoy it.

Hey Dirk, keep it off the streets man, take it from someone who's "been there done that" its way too dangerous out there now, the law has really cracked down on the street racing scene - it's certainly not worth losing your ride over.

Hey Dirka , the name RATTLER came about from where we live , we live in the hills where there are rattlesnakes everywhere , we kill a dozen or so in our yard every year. we just seem to have alot on our property. We painted the dragster a few years back with a metalic brown paint and looked at it and decided it looked like a rattlesnake, so we decided to name it the RATTLER , everybody liked it , so we had shirts made and picture handouts and it just kind of took off ..unfortunatly this car is in Pennsalvania at this time with its new owner and a new one is in the works, thats how we got the dozer , anyway thats the story,,,Judy

Hi Judy.
Welcome to RJ. I do like the car and the name Rattler. However, if I found a dozen or so rattle snakes  in my yard it would no longer be my yard. It would be their yard and I would be long gone. If I had to stay I'd probably set out landmines and booby trape for 'em. LOL

check around, some video shops will convert old 8mm, 32mm, vhs and Beta video to a DVD and the cost is pretty decent. we just did a ton of them and glad we did since the tapes were starting to go bad, some of the 8mm's were almost 40 years old!

Sorry kats, dont have a MyFace or Spacebook. Been on RacingJunk since 2008, So about myself, how does anyone try and describe themselves online without sounding too self-righteous or egotistical? I'll try and be as humble and honest as I can...... I said I would try, may not happen but hey :)

Hi, my name is John and I cant stop buying cars, im one of those guys that have ran out of space and the City threatens. (i have to think about how many i have, i forget sometimes) I have cars at all my friends homes (thanks guys! lol)
My whole family has been into cars, racing etc.
I got into Motorcycle Roadracing, I still have a bunch of wrecked bikes and a stack of used slicks, I did get lots of scars from the roadracing bikes and I show them off alot to get sympathy points from the ladies...sigh....
So it was back to building cars and drag Racing, Made alot of awesome friends in this car world and without them i would be screwed.

I'm really not into the dress up in Dickies and pose up wit tatts and stuff ..but......I do happen to have some weird posed pictures that I will send ya! (no nudes, sorry)
Look at my GALLERY, http://www.racingjunk.com/profile/335837 its got all my cars and trucks in it.

New here,

My nam is Sam, I am active duty military and have performance parts business HTPMotorsports. I will be posting ads as I get deals I would like to pass along and participate when I have something useful to add here on the forums. I drive a 97 Twin Turbo Mustang that sees weekend track days when it is acting decent and not breaking ringlands. Best pre-turbo was 8.98 at 94MPH with udps, catted x, 3.73s and Nittos drs out back, it was a 1.9x 60'. I have a slip with a 3.21 when something blew across my beam that I carry for the occasional argument

Hello, just want to introduce myself. My name is Bob and I am from St. Louis Mo. I have been running a chopped turbo bug at Gateway that I built in my garage and am wanting to get into a Willys gasser for nastalgia events. This looks like the place to get the ball rolling to me!

Thanks, fla1976 !

Thanks for the compliments guys. I just finished chopping and channeling a 35 Ford truck for a friend that is going to run nastalgia events. I made him send me a picture to post on here. The truck is painted now but this is the only picture he has at the moment. Let me see if this works.

Welcome Paul. SHOW US SOME PICS! What's wrong with the newbies these days. Just kidding, but we do like to see what kind of project / car you have.

Hey all, how's it going? My name is Lou, but due to so many Lou's in the world most of my friends just call me Lujo. I have been a member on RJ for over a year thanks to a friend recommending the site to me and I have been addicted ever since.
Anyway I finally noticed the forums on here after reading a post about a scammer a few months back and thought it only right to properly give a long overdue hello and hopefully become a part of the community here.
I have a 1970 Pontiac Formula 400 RAIII with a Muncie 4-speed and 3:73 12 bolt that is all original I am restoring, a custom ground up built Harley sporty that isn't your common Harley I have owned for too long, and a 91 Jeep I aggravate myself with but it's a loyal daily driver. Been noticing my life has slowed down some so I am hunting out the right pro-street roller to get back to what I enjoy.
Well see you all on the boards and hopefully on the track next year.
~Cheers, Lujo
