World of Outlaws late model driver Chris Madden continued on a hot streak this weekend at Lernerville Speedway. Kicking off Firecracker 100 weekend with his third World of Outlaws Craftsman® Late Model Series win, Smokey Madden worked his way from a fourth place starting position during Thursday night’s first 30-lap feature of the weekend to begin a hard-fought mission that culminated during Saturday night’s 100-lap feature.

Although Madden had to settle for a third-place finish in Friday night’s 30-lap feature, everything changed as the green flag waved over the 26-car field during Saturday night’s 100-lap Firecracker 100. As our friends at the World of Outlaw so eloquently put it, “If you just kept your eyes on Madden during the 100-lap event, it might have looked like he was on a Sunday afternoon cruise to the grocery store.”

In dominating fashion, Madden and his Barry Wright Race Cars No.44 had no serious challenge for the top spot and at one point held a more than six second lead over the field. Despite six cautions, the Gray Court, SC driver led every lap en route to a $30,000 payday as well as his first-career Firecracker 100 victory.

“We had a bit of a different combination in our Barry Wright Race Cars No. 44 on Saturday night,” said Madden. “Because of this, I was able to run the middle of the racetrack and I knew then that we were going to be the car to beat.”

Thanks to an eye-popping weekend, Madden retains the World of Outlaws Craftsman® Late Model points lead going into the DIRTcar Racing Summer Nationals at Terre-Haute Action Track on June 29 and Federated Auto Parts Raceway at I-55 on June 30.
