Maybe I'm Paranoid Floyd...but no way would I put mine together around that much dirt and what have you....just my opinion.

bbchevy 05-10-2009 03:00 PM

Dirt?

Yeah Tod,
But?He has a 1 OFF ENGINE Stand???
Later
G

cepx111 05-11-2009 11:26 PM

Yeah I seen that nice engine stand too...lol
In his defense, I know a guy who runs a engine rebuilding shop here in Memphis ( big Al's )
He builds all his motors on a old bucthers block, doesn't believe in engine stands at all.
The shop could use some tidying up though.

I wasn't dogging him not having a stand...it was his ring compressor laying in the dirty floor and all those metal shavings / dirt or whatever they are on the ground around his parts and tools....

cepx111 05-12-2009 09:16 PM

I'm digging that lunati steel crank and that nice bow in the board.

kwkracing 05-23-2009 09:03 PM

i like how the grinder is layin next to the CLEAN motor. Lol

bjuice 05-27-2009 05:42 PM

yes i was thinking the same thing (Dirt) Tod..it reminds me when i was 16 yrs old i tore off my 1st top end off and replaced it with a set of Double Hump heads i found under a trailer ( Had them re-worked at NAPA), Replaced cam with a camshaft from AUTOSHACK ( Anyone remember that Chain Store?)..the cam was an alliance.
also purchased a tunnal ram with pair of 465's (holley)..from local speed shop for $350.00

did all this with engine still in the car in a one room barn with a dirt floor and 2 Bare light bulbs hanging from ceiling....long Humid Summer nights here in the South.

I spent hours in a Chilton Manual trying to figure out how to put it all back together.......Great Times ! 8)

i will never forget the feeling when i turned the ignition Key ( For the 100th time) and it fired up.....it was great !

Yep bjuice, I get your point and have some of the same memories as a young and driven lad myself.

I can remember my first header installation, The guy from Larry Lampert Auto Centers said They would bolt right on in just about 20 minutes.

That easy bolt on project took me three days and nights in my buddies barn. I think between the both of us we had a cresent wrench, a pair of pliers and a kerosene lantern.
How times change and the memories just keep getting better and better.

When I was around 13 or so my dad had goten an engine from someone that needed gone through....It was a 350 sbc I decided to "help" by tearing it down for him wjile he was at work....He got home and saw that I had taken it apart, and was glad I did it...then he asked where the rod and main caps were...I told him they were in that bucket over there...He said "You marked them didn't you?

 :? :? :?

Working by myself at dark, under a car trying to remove bell housing bolts, raining and no swivel socket. Almost in tears of frustration when I realized I was tightening instead of loosening.
