4:56 with 16 x 33 slicks is what I would run. JMO!

I Agree 4.56 and 16 x 33 should work for you. I run 33.5 x 16 hoosiers with a 4.86 gear. With the little motor is ran 11.21 @ 119 and I went through at 6400. It just depends on how fast your car is. You need to have a good idea of what it will run before you can figure it out for sure...

I ran 3.73 gears in my 69 Camaro with Hoosier 28 x 14.5 x 15. (Had a 13.1 section width) Worked well on 10 inch rims which was the recommended size. Used to run 4:11s but wanted to drop the far end revs some. Had a TH400 and transbrake.
That was with 1100hp 572ci with 200hp nos. Hooked up no probs, ran 9.3 sec quarters. Weighed 3200 lbs. |

Blown SBC, 630 HP, 605 TQ, TH-400 I have a set of 15" x 15" rims. Plenty of room to run 33"x16"s. Question is, How wide is wide enough? Should I run 14's, 14.5's, 15's? I see people hooking with 10.5's with much more power. I would like to save money and use the rims I have, but how much is overboard? Is height any more a question than roll out and gear ratio? I assume D-5 compound or equivelent. Thanks again. Should have track pics within a month. Long time comin! Steve |
