I figure its time to start this thread, we have been having issues with the forum since the end of last year. I hope the powers that be read this and give some feedback. Here is what I have noticed.
1. Newbies start dates are listing as 1969 and 1970
2. If I click the "Profile" tab at the top of the page, it takes me back to the Racing Junk main page. This used to be where you could put your personal info along with your Avatar picture.
3. Some people Avatars can be seen but most can not. No way to change my Avatar since I cant get to my profile.
I thought there was something else but I cant remember. Anybody else have issues please post them up.
I also have 1 request, any way we can link Youtube videos like we do pictures? That way we can actually see the video on the post instead of having to go to the Youtube website?
Thanks
:D

I agree Harbone something needs to be done. I think some of these problems might be why there is less traffic here than normal.
Can you imagine what a ghost town it will be once racing season starts.

Not trying to be controlling, but something....
This LeBran and the 24 girl topic under Engines are a terrible waste of space and an insult to my intellinence.

Something else I have seen on other forums, how about a "special projects" or "senior members only" section? This would be for members that have been on here for a certain amount of time or have a set minimum amount of posts (say 500?) before you can access that section.
Just a thought...

Ther's lot's of problems since RJ was sold i think the new buyers are just intrested in the money from the ads, and don't worry about maintence. This forum has almost never benn in RJ's intrest even in the past. I haven't seen anything this year from Tom, or is he no longer associated with the forum, BJ hasn't been around much either, maybe he's lost intrest also. Just us old die hards are on here for the most part. I do use the PM section almost daily and look at what's happening here on the forum, but like stated it's almost dead. i don't go to any other forums. I got a really bad virous earlier this week from the H.A.M.B. forum, took me hours to fix my computer (lucky i'm puter savvy). Maybe it's because i run Windows 7 instead of Google crome or one of the other browsers. But if this forum dies i guess i won't be looking anywhere else.

Other than the aforementioned 'issues' which REALLY are not THAT bad, there are so few newbys coming on that ANY interaction/information exchange/teachable moments/advise 'WE' can partake in, is VERY welcome. I do kinda miss the days of the regular TROLLS making their presence known though ! :P :P
There are a TON of faces I haven't seen hide nor hair of for quite some time. I realize that 'life' happens and folks will cycle through, but I sure do miss the wide variety of car folks we've had here to add to the field of knowledge. The group we still have has been added to with a couple of new and welcome, informative and CIVIL folks.
So until life 'happens' I'll still tag along with my bros ! 8) 8)

Bone you can try PJ. I contacted him on the last major flood of spammers and thats when he got me in touch with the CA guys or should I say they contacted me and explained the IT issue.
I would start with PJ and see if you get a response. If not give me a PM or text me and I will try and run it down.

For you gun lovers out there. Pull up on you tube the sliding stock vid. I think you will be amazed at how this LEGAL bolt on can take your semi auto and make it capable of firing over 600 rounds a minute.
I know many of you come from places/states that do not have the pro firearm laws SC does. SC was one of the 1st states to adopt the CWP. Also the Castle law that spells out in bold letters that a person has the right to defend their home and property up to deadly force to prevent harm. Its understood in many places but SC spelled it out with a new dedicated law for that purpose only.
Many major gun manufactures such as Magpul etc.. Are considering SC as their new home.
I am a firm advocate of keeping law abiding citizens armed and informed !

I have seen those stocks. My plan before everything got messed up was to buy an AR after this past christmas just a plain jane one and build on it as I could afford. The slide stock was one of my goals, but now I can't afford one. ARs seem to be slowly becoming more avalible around here again and price coming down even slower.

Correct they are coming down for sure. If I can make a recommendation. The PSA M-4 AR-15 is IMO the best bang for the buck. Palmetto State Armory right here in SC. Its a true .556 NATO bore, heavy duty chrome lined barrell which is capable of shooting the higher grain AP rounds. Iron front sites and engineered to accomadate grenade launcher. The 16 INCH barrell is 1-7 twist and I find is a good length barrell for open and close quarter home defense.
Also dont let some idiots tell you that you can shoot .556 rounds in a .223 bore. WRONG !!although the rounds are same size physically the .556 creates more barrell pressure andwill ruin a .223 barrell

I have heard the 223 and 5.56 before. I want an AR to fire both the one I was most likley to buy was a S&W M&P sport they were between $650 and 699 around here. DPMS also was one I had looked at I will look at the PSA for sure before I buy sounds like you really like that gun. The two things on the M&P sport I was not sure about was it dose not have a dust cover or a forward assist.

Yes I am partial to PSA because they are located in SC but they make a quality piece. You take it down for cleaning every part in the weapon is manufactured by PSA. You can buy a New PSA for $999 today and its complete with all you mentioned except any Fiber optics. I use BSA Red Dot optics very effective up to 100 yards... BSA is just as effective as the EO-Tech but 1/3rd of cost...For me anything over 100 yards that I want to be surgical with needs a magnifier
I looked at several DPMS but found nothing under $1400+. I will not pay that for a .556.
My next venture is the .308 or NATO .762X54
Very humbling weapon . No hidding from this one...
For the record I DO NOT consider any of these weapons we have mentioned as the first choice for home defense. Sport only. nothing beats a 12 gauge pump with either 00 or 000 buck.
You sound like my kinda guy Swiley ! What hand guns you like ? You into black powder ?

I have never shot a black powder I want to just have not. For handguns I like everything single action, semiauto, DA revolvers dose not matter. I can't afford most of what I want. I seem to be looking at more older stuff in the last year or so old S&Wand Colts are really getting my attention recently.Like I said can't afford them but love to look. The coolest one I have is a old S&W 38spl I think it is a early M&P model from the early 1900s I am going to send off to S&W and get a histroy letter one of these days. The rest I have are mordern stuff like a Springfeild XD45, S&W model 66 357 among otherthings a glock is on my to get soon list. I have a few others pistols and long guns these three are my fav in the pistol catagory. The old 38 was a hand me down from my greatgrand father to my grandfather then to me it is the first pistol I ever shot

My dad has a 1100 nice gun that gun has broke many skeet in its day. I borrowed it a few months ago to shoot some skeet with some guys I work with for a $50 gift card provided by my boss. I won that was great since I have not shot skeet in a few years. Any shotgun with 00 buck is a great defense tool. Hard to beat the sound of a pump having a round racked into the chamber. I do not think there is a person out there that dose not know what that sound is.

I am partial to the 38 spl myself Swiley. This was the first firearm I carried in Law-enforcement a SW Model 10 Nickle plated oversized wooden Grip. We up-graded to the Sig P226 9mm which is the early model of what the Navy Seals carry today as their side arm. The Seal version has the 20rd magazine we had the 15rd. Best feature of this weapon is the de-cocking lever which is a great feature when dis-engaging under stressful conditions..I am not a fan of the 9mm as personal defense because of the speed of the round. Its notorious for passing thru a target, It takes a well placed shot which the Seals are trained to do..The seals will be hitting you with their HK 417'S and their MP5'S long before their Sig will be used...lol :D . I never have figured out why the Military in GENERAL got away from the 45 caliber they are heading back in this direction, Even law-enforcement agencies are getting away from the 9mm and back to the 40's..
As for the 38Spl I still own the same model 10 SW today. We were given the option to purchase our service revolvers when we changed to the Sig. When I was with the State trooper we had SW 357 with Silver tip HP rounds before going to 40 cal glocks.
The 870 pump is also close to me ...carried this in patrol car 5 yrs. I dispursed many of rowdy crowd by getting out and RACKING a shell.
My Wifes CWP weapon is a 38 Spl SW 5 shot hammerless 642Model. Got her a Crimson Trace laser Grip a few weeks back..Greeentip Critical Defense rounds.
My choice would between the .380 LCP ruger or the Walther 1911 semi Auto 45 cal...All depends on where you go.

My uncle was in law enforcement for well over 20 year. He has kinda the same story the S&W 38 he was first issued he purchased when he made Sgt. The issue for the Sgts was a stainless steel S&W38.When he was later issued a Glock 17 he purchased that gun as well and the same thing when they switched to 40cal. Then he retired a few years ago and was given the Glock 40.This is were it really gets interesting my cousin is now a officer for the same department. My uncle gave him the S&W 38spl J frame that he carried for backup for many years. My cousin now carries that J frame for his backup. I also carry a S&W 642 most of the time for my main carry gun. The XD 45 also is carried sometime like you said depends on the situation. It is just hard to beat the ease of a small 38 in a pocket holster for day to day carry. The 870 is anther fine shotgun I have very reliable. I would love to have an 870 wing master to go with I love walnut stocks on a shotgun.

I'm guilty of taking the wood grips off my S&W model 66-2 stainless steel 357mag. the wood grips look great but with full power 357 mag loads I like to shoot (so dose my wife) the Houge sure are easier on the hands. I do still have the wood grips and keep saying I'am going to put them back on until I pick up the gun then change my mind.

well , here in Mississippi starting in july you can open carry without a permit. and conceled carry no longer has to be conceled , but with the cc permit you can carry conceled ,sounds confusing but its not , EVERYBODY has a gun , oh no , even littlerod...LOL

quote :" Pender - Mississippi becomes open carry state with new gun law"
I’ll say it again: House Bill 2, signed into law by the governor, allows a Mississippian, with or without a permit, to strap on a pistol and stroll about in public.
That fact appears to now be dawning on some folks, including law enforcement and even some lawmakers who passed the bill, which becomes law July 1.
The new law defines concealed carry, saying a gun doesn’t have to be fully concealed as long as it’s in a proper holster. But it also states that openly carrying is allowed. A permit is required only for concealed carry, which no longer has to be very concealed.

Nice to see more states doing open carry. There is a lot to be said about open carry a great crime reducer. Who is going to rob a store if most of the people inside are armed. The people up in Washington should take note that these states will not give in to there anti gun schemes to disarm the people who obey the law.

Brick I was thinking about you the other night when they were having a segment on the first round of M16's in Vietnam..they said the slightest dirt or dust would cause a jam.. Said the soliders were in heavy fire fight and catch a jam. The tried cleaning their m16's while taking on AK-47 rounds. NOT GOOD.!! U remember those days brick ?????

Too many times Juice. A lot of the SF guys would pack AK's and chance catching friendly fire, cuz you could pull them right out of a mud hole and they'd work. The 16 was the beginning of the 'new breed' of war rifles and they had much to learn and apply from our 'field testing'......
Any one yet tried the new Frog Lube ? LOVE it ! They send lots of it free of charge to our troops in the rock pile and our guys/gals eat it up. Do a google for 'frog Lube'.

Thats the only way to carry a 1911. The 1911 is the most battle proven sidearm out there and you can't dispute the stopping power of the 45ACP round. Brick I will bet you guys trying to make those M16s work would have loved to have had the M14s back.

I wielded 14's in basic training. HEAVY LOG compared to the 16. And then packing lots of 7.62 ammo as well was ARG ! Wasn't ever privileged to subject a 14 to what the 16 went through, but talking with vets who did, they had a LOT less jamming issues with the 14. The M1 carbine woulda been better than the 16 in the early years. Short, light, accurate.
The modern AR type base is sooooo much advanced, LIGHTER, and doesn't jam as easily as the early 16's. With all the body armor they have to wear, ANYthing to lighten the load and still pack lots of water and ammo is priority.
Swiley383
04-20-2013, 07:18 PM
The AR have come a very long way and still getting better. I know a lot of the high end ones ($$$$$) have gone to a piston system rather than a gas tube. The M14s are heavy I have handled a modern version the M1A1 I am sure they are lighter than the originals. That 7.62 ammo is bulky to carry for sure. The AK 47 is anther great weapon that has stood the test of time although often used against our troops or newer versions of the rifle (AK74).

Heck yes on the 7.62 rd. Most units today has a minimum of at least one soldier armed with a 7.62 cal rifle normally their unit sniper. The freaking round goes thru freaking block walls ETC enemy gone.
I went to PSA yesterday with wife and looked at the AR10 Armalight 762.51 NATO rd. Which is a .308. $1300 plus tax. Price coming down

That is not too bad for a AR10. Prices around here are coming down as well I have not looked around much the last 3or 4 weeks. I don't have the money right now and looking just makes me want it more. I hope around June I can start my AR15 search again.

Well Swiley Your patience is paying off. I went by Academy sports today and they had a Stag Arms .308 /762.51 for $1098.
Also saw some .556 55 grain ammo FMJ at ACE HARDWARE for 11.99 . same Box On-line as low as $9.99 a Box..
So yes its coming down.
Also did you see where Stag Arms is making good on their promise to leave Conn ? Rick Perry from Texas made them an offer and said bring it on we want your business..
Stag reported a $50k per week payroll..No telling what that state will lose in Revenue/Jobs/etc.....I hate what happened there it was Sad...but now comes another Tradgey with lost Jobs and income for that State all in the name of Quickly pushed political agendas.
I mean look at the people passing the Gun laws in these states like NY.. 7 round Magazines..LOL ?...the manufacture didn't even make 7 rd magazines so they went back and re-wrote the law to allow 10 rd magazines but you cannot have anymore then 7 rds in the mag at a given time...LMAO.
The only Thing I wish Now is that Stag would have come to SC.

I had not heard about Stag moving to Texas. I wonder how long it will be before the non gun friendly states will be complain about lost tax revenue? That sounds like a good price on that rifle did you pick one yet? The last I heard Stag was something like 70,000 rifles on back order and a year behind. The fact that they made good on there word to relocate says a lot. Stag sure dose make a good rifle I hope they are able to expand in the process.

The problem lies in I can not open the "profile" tab at the top of the page, when I click it all it does it take me back to the RJ main page. Thats where you load your avatar on your profile along with all your settings.

never did...gonna call his office once again...this can't be a hard fix....stay tuned....5:43pm Friday
I left him another Message at ext#10...I am making myself an auto reminder on my NOT so smart phone to call him during business hours Monday. I will stay on top of it for sure.
My profile acts the same way when you try to access it but for some reason it did not delete my profile pic when the change happened.

I was having issues with slow execution times over 1 second to 30 seconds, just changing pages on the Racing Junk ads.
When I contacted the SUPPORT at he bottom of the page recently, PJ answered me back a couple times and said he was passing it on to the tech guys. Never got any reply back from them though.
Still have same issue, goes from normal to many seconds to change pages and sometimes never does.

No harm to me crazyhorse, just have to watch what you say to the other brothers on here. Some of these guys have been around for a long time and we have had our fair share of "fresh meat" as DD put it in the past.
This is not the biggest and baddest forum on the net but we have a large base of good guys that have and will go out of the way to help others on here.
So when somebody comes in and starts throwing stones, the sharks (no matter how old and crusty some of them may be  ) do group together and start circling.
Let me be the first person to welcome you to the forum crazyhorse, we need some fresh faces around here.

wooohhh No-one jumped on you dude... Bottom line this thread was started by a seasoned contributing member with a legitimate complaint..We are a tight knit around here...I do not know where any-newbie can come in and start slamming a site and not get called out...Go over to YB and try it... You have not paid your dues here to be slamming like you did....Then you want to call out an admin with over 10 years and another Veteren contributing member.. you got on a short leash real quick and I promise you about 10 more is about to jump off in this by the last comment you made... The core guys around here not only post up here we also text each other, call each other and visit in person..
you ask anyone on this site of what I do to Newbie's coming over here to this forum that has no Skin in this game and start trashing this site.....these core members have earned a right to complain you have not at this point...( Notice I said at this point ).
My feelings have not been hurt but yours has for sure....get some post time and earn your right...
Anyone got a grievance with this air it now...

To the Core members here.....I have been on this site over 10 years...most of them as a Mod or Admin....I have NEVER allowed a Newbie to come on this site and Bash Racing Junk or any of its Core members and I am not going to start Now....I am not concerned with anyone leaving that wants to do nothing but bitch and site bash that has contributed nothing to the site.
This thread was created by Bone a respectable, productive long term member that has a legit complaint with a function process on the forum. I have tried working with the IT on the classified side to get this problem corrected with no success..This thread has remained open for respect of Bone and other long standing members FORUM ISSUES...The thread is titled " Standing Forum Issues".....Not sign in make a couple of post and bash the site because you do not like some features on the classifieds.

I admire the thread has remained open to criticism... it is humble. That said, there can be a FINE LINE between criticism & PUKING on the admin if a poster is a newbie. On one hand, the new poster wants to dish out- but BAILS out if he gets served??? I was just being a smartazz & backing up what Juice said some.... I meant no harm really. Instead, he tells me he wants my "mom to rot in hell".... classy guy. I would like to invite his ugly azz into the boxing ring for a little sparring event... maybe cut his eye bones some & fold his nose over sideways... that would be fun.... invite my mom to watch me do it too... jerk-off.

My post wasn't as vicious as he took it either scoot. You and the other members know I have ZERO tolerance for guest and Newbies trashing the site or its members. I have been consistant with this over a decade....Crazy is not the 1st nor will he be the last to get served if you come in here with that bullchit without earning their stripes...No other site I know of is gonna let a newbie by with that stuff.

I can relate to ya Juice & DD. It is not that different for me really... boxing has made me in better shape, better cardio, etc... but I can stand to loose another 20lbs or so... hard to kill that last 20lbs!! At 43, it is starting to take some toll on me. R/Rotator cuff is hurting. Only training 2-3 times a week now... my son had his first fight & lost by decision. Great fight though; I was so proud of him. After it was over, the winner gave him a big hug & gave him his trophy!! It was cool. On another note, my hardest sparring/fight was actually a 50yr old. Even though he was older than me, he schooled me pretty bad. His age does not seem to affect him to much; seen him whip guys half his age.
It good to see ya all around here; I have missed you guys. Between work, kids & boxing, I don't get on here as much or have much time to wrench on my Chevelle. I did score some 67-72 double hump 194 heads "461's" after finding out mine were wrong castings for the 327 it has.. plus they were 172's. I am having the new ones machined right now. I will keep dropping by to talk with you guys. Scooter
