That's just it Outlaw. It's a proven fact that gun control laws DO NOT WORK!! If they did, then Detroit, DC, Chicago and other large cities with TOUGH gun control laws would be safe?? THEY ARE NOT!!
It's NOT about gun control though. It's about PEOPLE CONTROL!!

Banning Guns doesn't work. We all know that. And whether you ban one kind, or all of them, as long as somebody makes 'em, somebody else will have 'em . . That's a given.
None of the Bans or the politics that revolve around the bans stops gun violence in our cities. Yesterday some dude ran amok in New York State, which just passed a whole passel of strict gun laws (Enough to draw a boycott of gun and gun related industries), with a regular pump shotgun. Dunno how many people he killed, 6, I think, and wounded several more . . Which tends to make you ask; "Was it the Shotgun, or the shotgunner?"
This guy had no criminal record and at this time, it's unknown if he had any kind of diagnosed mental disorder or was under treatment. But I'll bet he was . .
And again, Mandatory sentencing and hard time for possession of "Illegal" ("Stolen" Guns) would be the direction to go, instead of passing unenforcable laws that make criminals of honest citizens . .
Taking the guns away from crooks may not prevent the "Going Postal Shootings" but in the long run, it'll make our streets safer and save several hundred lives every year . .

A statement from Ronnie Barrett, CEO of Barrett Firearms . . Good read, better indictment . .
BARRETT’S POSITION REGARDING THE ASSAULT ON LIBERTY
Barrett’s Position Regarding the Assault on Liberty
February 20, 2013
Barrett opposes those who are illegally disarming the American public from their efficient arms and creating superior armed elitist government agencies.
Elected state officials of New York, having been sworn to protect our Constitution, have instead committed an offense against it and their citizens by stripping inalienable rights duly protected and guaranteed under the Second Amendment. By their deliberate and sinister actions, these officials now cause their state and local policing agencies to enforce these unconstitutional and illegal so called “laws”.
By current law, Barrett cannot be an accomplice with any lawbreaker, therefore, cannot and will not service or sell to New York government agencies. Barrett also applies this stance to the individual elected official who, as a matter of public record, has voted for or created regulation that violates the constitutional rights of their citizens. This is an expansion of our 2002 ban against the California government due to their second amendment infringements, and shall apply to any future violators.
In the course of world history there have been officials that strip inalienable rights from the people that were given to all by our Creator. Most of these officials inevitably come to trial, some do not.
Intentionally violating constitutional rights by officials that have sworn to uphold them should have severe prison sentences.
With the clear vision of horrible events in history repeating itself, all manufacturers of firearms or related equipment remaining in partnership with such violators should have a respectable fear of being found with the guilty on their day of trial.
During this era of assault on liberty, Barrett will remain steadfast in our efforts to serve law-abiding citizens of all fifty states, and stands together with you in the struggles we will fight and win.
Ronnie Barrett
Chairman and CEO

The Gun control measure being put forward in Congress currently (Obama's Universal Background Checks) is not what it's advertised as. It is "GUN REGISTRATION" in disguise.
This took a little reading and looking past the "Green Curtain" but if or when the "Universal Background Check" law is passed, in it are the provision(s) that the gun buyer will be registered as the owner and the records kept forever. That is "Registration" with another name. And, I believe that it's written so that it will override or nullify the earlier law that requires all background checks by FFL holders to be destroyed at 180 days after the check was run. And the "Yellow Sheet" is also supposed to be destroyed so that ownership of the purchased gun would remain anonymous as per the second amendment.
The Obama Administration says that maintaining the record of purchase is to maintain a chain of responsibility and liability so that they may track "illegal" guns . . Bad argument. A legally purchased firearm only becomes "Illegal" under certain circumstances, none of which would be discovered through federal registration. The "Legal" gun becomes illegal when; Purchased by a person who then gives or sells the gun to a second party for criminal use or because the second party could not legally purchase or own a firearm (Straw Purchase), or when the gun is stolen from it's rightful owner, or when it's illegally modified (Cut down or made to operate in a manner other than that of it's original design) or defaced by removal of it's serial number . . None of this would be prevented by "Registering" your new firearm.
Currently, because of HIPPIA Law, a background check wouldn't have prevented any of the latest mass killings because the Doctors can't legally release any information about their patients to anyone outside of immediate family members, so you don't know the nut with a Rifle, Pistol, Knife, Truck or whatever he's trying to kill you with IS a NUT until he starts killing.
Dylan Quick was just another "Good Kid" with a few "Quirks" until he began stabbing people in the neck with an Xacto Knife. In post arrest interviews with the Police, Dylan said that he's fantasized about stabbing people for years . . . But this kid could have passed a background check if he had have decided to use a gun instead of a hobby knife.
The greatest mass killing in the USA was committed with box cutters and Boeing 757's . . And until the Terrorists got on those airplanes, outside of being legal visitors or aliens, they too, could have passed a standard background check.
Point is . . The Obama Administration is trying to REGISTER YOUR GUN(S), not protect the public.

They have set a goal to destroy not only the second amendment but the constitution. This will only be the start .
