Just wondering what everyone is doing to there cars over the off season? I am fixing a rearend seal leak that has driven me crazy, putting a new yoke on that I can put a magnet ring on. The magnet ring is for the new data recorder I am adding. Also bought a digital dial board from Biondo because I race alone quite a bit and I hate when I decide to change my dial AFTER I have strapped in. No more problem. Ordered new front runners hoping they won't leak through the sidewalls like the last set. Probably going to get a new scoop for the car. Updating me also with a new firesuit.

The wife bought me a new 20' enclosed trailer so I have been working on getting it set up the way I want. I have to say this has been a good Christmas season for me. I hope everyone of you has as blessed of a Christmas as my family is having.

First that's a nice present from your wife!

I'm getting my very first Nitrous kit. It's a Speedtech Fogger. Gonna put my motor on a bottle and see if I can wake it up a little. :D
I had several other plans, but kinda confused about my set up after the last few races of the year.

I had the motor freshened already. Plan to buy a new FTI Converter. I sold my car a few weeks back and will need to find a replacement, so I'll have a very busy start of the new year.

Going to a built 434" with stacks injection and a good set of Brodix 10's that flow 320 CFM instead of the mousey 377 with a toilet bowl and track 1 heads, plus a new set of Toyo slicks to replace the 9 yr. old GY's. Hoping to drop from the 6.50's into the 5's with 3200 lbs. plus car and as always alcohol.

Zip.

because they are tough and its around $1200-$1500 less then a fab 9
I will have 40 spline moser axells and it will be 38.5" outside drum to outside drum just like my mopar 8 3/4 I have right now

Yes, they are tough, but they're also VERY heavy! Why a fab 9? A basically stock 9" housing with all the right parts won't cost much more than a Dana 60, will be plenty strong, and a bunch lighter.......of course you might be one of those "no Ford parts on my Chevy" guys. Personally, for a tenth, I'd suck it up....

My fuel pump got wet back in 2008 when the flood hit andhas now locked up. I plan to fix that and rewire the whole car. After that I have to get someone to look at it and tell me what must be done to get it certified so they will let me on the track. I already know I need a trans shield and window net but as far as the chassis I don't know.

I got a pretty wimpy project compared to the racers... but I am pulling & freshening up the 327/275 in the 68 Chevelle. Keeping it totally stock except a small cam & headers. keeping the 194 heads, to retain the cars original state w/ matching # motor. As much as I hate to do it, I am going to buy the correct QJ carb for it too... then detail the engine bay, throw in a new clutch, then be done w/ drive train.

A buddy at work is going to paint her this spring so she will a deep Black w/a heavy clear coat gloss. She will not be maroon/cordovan "NN" color anymore. Seriously.... a black on black 68??? does it get any better??? You watch; I will be cussing that black paint down the road... I know. Thats it for me.

First off we melted a piston and trashed the block on the 56 Chevy in October so that one is already a work in progress. Then we're doing an upgraded rear end for my sons Nova. We put a dart little "m" 408 nitrous motor in it towards the end of the season and we know the 10 bolt posi thats in it wont handle it anymore. Finally i'm building a 6-71 blown small block to replace the 331 tunnel ram motor for the 55 wagon but i dont anticipate the swap to take place till maybe May or June.

Well, it looks like we are keeping the car 1 more season. The 2010 motor was drained and ready to come out as the spare. The 2009 season motor is V's for a freshen up. Just got the heads and intake back from Brodix. I have been reviewing some of the items on the car. Time to get it on a diet. Just knocked 20lbs off the car with a battery change. Looking at some other items that I may change out. Rather than that, drop the motor and go.

Hey Curtis, what kind of tires were you running before and what are you going to run now?

curtisreed
02-13-2011, 10:44 AM
Goodyears on both accounts. I haven't mounted the new ones yet but I am going to soap them just to be safe. The reason for GY is the first set was used and I am running GY on back. Plus they were the cheapest when I went to buy.

BEAST477

If you got time soap them twice. Use a brush and concentrate on the sidewalls. It might not be the total cure but it sure helped me.
