Been trying to sell a Jeffco and a roller Grand National, now I put my shop equipment up for sale and can't even get an offer. Is it that bad or is everyone just sitting on there money?

it's tuff nan, in my case i have a daughter going to pharmacy school
she lives here at home w/my grand kids which have a dead beat
dad and let me tell you, it cost to raise kids, no gov. assistatance,
and my grand kids have no idea that food, clothes and things cost
money, they think you just go to the store and get what you need.
these kids (5 & 3) drink 2 gal of milk a wk, i could go on but just
to give you an idea, and i stay at home to watch them, my income
was cut in half, i have not bought anything on here for the past yr.
just can't afford it right now, but our bills are paid, food on the table,
and the kids are happy, good luck bud

I work with a guy that has a wife and 3 kids, makes 22 dollars an hour, has a house that is less than 1 year old and gets $430 a month in food stamps.

well i wanted McCain, but oh well, we applied for food stamps and
they replied, "sell one of your cars, right now you qualify for $5 a
month", were fine without it, on Peoples court a women was suing
a company for scratched sunglasses that cost $900. she had
bought 3 pairs, 3 PAIRS! @ $900. ea, the judge found out she was
on Medicare, the judge ripped her a new one told her she is part
of the problem this country is in and almost threw the gavel at
her. (i know i watch peoples court while feeding the grandkids
lunch) heh heh

Sales seem to be down everywhere. Money is as tight as I remember back to the late 70's and early 80's.

Almost everyone who contacts me to buy something is looking to trade big and pay out cash small.

In my line of business I have been approached by investors who want to use the barter system to put deals together. It's like "What do I have or own that will help pay for your services"......

I am just waiting for the interest rate to climb to 18% and gas to go up to 5 bucks a gallon.

I certainly hope it does not happen, but as you can see no one is spending. That will certainly hurt the economy.

STIMULAS????? HUM BUG SHUM BUG...........

Its really crazy out there, but there will be another day............ Make the best of it........

Both of my racecars are parked, motorhome is parked, and every dime is just to keep food and shelter. Thanks to the 'stick it to U.S.' package that was blown through without being read.

Well said Rabbit. It's always someone elses fault. So please take care of me,me,me. And then when they get bailed out for pennies on the dollar they go do it all over again.

Me too, but I will say that sales are picking up right now. I will make less this year however. I have 2 kid's in private school (Christian) b/c of our over crowded public local schools now supporting homosexual agendas/green ecosystems/safe sex with monkeys & whatever else. That costs me a PILE of money to keep them there. My Camaro is up on stands right now & I am working on the crossmember, driveline & few upgrades instead of actaully driving it due to this economy. I ate lunch today in a small rural town at a diner... on the door it had a sign that said: "Due to the economy, we will not be open nights; closing at 3PM... closed on Sunday". I don't know boys, this economy is troubling. I had to take some 401K this year... that hurt. Scooter

I just don't want gas and diesel to get as high as it was. It got up to 5 bucks a gallon for diesel and the cheapest gas was 4.25 i believe. Thats the west coast for ya.

It's been far worse than this recession and the 80's was brutal. Total meltdowns of housing markets added by 24% interest rates and bang....

Trying to sell anything that is fringe right now is tough and cars are definitely not in high priority on that scale right now. Add in the fact racing is down to to lack of sponsorship and it back everything up like a stack of trains trying to fit into one tunnel. The system begins jamming with few buyers and many more sellers. If you have cash right now your king and just picking of steal deals everywhere.

If it doesn't look or smell like a great deal it won't move unless you really luck out. 10% unemployed and the majority are from the right who likely belong to racing hobbies also means a lot of guys in the hobby circles are down on their luck right now.

Takes about two years from the bottom out to begin creating jobs again.

Buying should ramp back up in 2011.

Well considering I don't have credit cards or debts owed to anyone I think I'm doing OK.. Worse comes to worse I can always park the dragsters in the garage, but I do like to buy and sell stuff, because I'm interested in nitrous and supercharged applications. If times where better I am sure that more people wold be looking for reasonably priced dragsters but none seem to be biting right now, it's like the tire kickers dream realized! I don't anticipate much better conditions for the next few years but do plan on getting symmetrical heads that flow a lot on both small blocks that way I can lean hard on my supercharged motor and make more power with my larger n/a motor! yay

Im looking for all these good deals out there,I havent seen any change in prices since the economy went tits up?? Its true, nothing seems to be selling,I do alright at swap meets but really nothing online-I have bought alot of parts but nothings cheap--I would like to be positive & say its going to get better but I dont think most of you guys are dumb enough to believe it-Ever notice,When Someone says the unemployment has slowed own & The economy is getting better how the price of Gas goes up??The Unemployment has to slow down, about Everyone that can lose their jobs have! Also people on unemployment benefits are down??The benefits have just ran out not less people out of work--Its really sad what the frigging politicians of this country have done to it & us.Is there really any such thing as an honest politician?Believe me when I say we do not own this country, its been sold to every foreign country in the world-Health care prices??Get rid of a part of the illegals in this country & the strain on our health care would be relieved.I would never want anyone(legal or illegal) to go without medical attention,I just dont want to be on the hook to pay for it--This is a subject I could go on forever on but bottom line is we would still face the same deli ma--Thanx for taking the time to read my opinion-

I agree with what you have just said.

over 10% job loss as a national averge..some area's as high as 30%.

everyone scared to death of what tommorrow holds.....and i Flip thru the Classsifieds and still see the same type prices on stuff as i did 3 and 4 yrs ago..which was over priced to begin with IMO.....

don't know about you guys but it never got me in the mood to buy a used part for 20% less than what i could get it New....

i agree its deal Time..u wanna sale get your head and pocket book on the same page...if not don't Bitch if your stuff doesn't sale.
