Have it sonic tested, most can go .060 over safely. Do that and put a 4.25 stroke crank in it and build a 496.

Have your block magnafluxed to insure you have a good block before you sink a wad of cash into it.

You should sonic test any block. If you have a "K" block, you can go +.125

Do You Already have a NEW Set of +.080 Pistons???
If Not,Why would you take a Standard Bore Block and Bore it .080?
Do you know How much Performance you will Gain with the .080 Bore over Standard???
I DO?
VERY LITTLE!!!

If You have a Nice Standard Block,KEEP IT THAT WAY!
I Have a REAL Nice +.125 Over Block that is already Done,Hard Block,Studs,O-Rings,Line-Hone,The Whole 9.And i'm Sure i'm NOT the Only 1?
THINK ABOUT IT.................................. :?:

your going to need to plan this build is what the guys are getting at....if you want to do a 496.....060" over 454 all 8 holes...then you are going to need to know what cam....hyd, solid, hyd roller....lift, duration....then pistons, compression ration, heads....stock, aluminum, etc...the crank is a 4.25 stoker crank avail from eagle, scat, lunati, etc. then rods....it going to be a package and if you dont plan it out....and just slap it together you wont be happy....stop first what do you want to do with this....street car, race, pro street, por touring, etc, the car, then plan the engine....it works better to plan it out

As radicalz stated above, when you change the bore and stroke of the 454,you need to plan out which cam profile you are going to use. Many years ago,I took the ls6 motor out of my 1970 el camino and increased it to 496''.Alot of changes were needed, but with that stroke increase, the torque of the motor really put me back in the seat.Take your time and plan it .It will be worth it.FISHMANJOE
