About Me -

Member for: 11 years, 8 months

Ed Heystee, While growing up in Pasadena, lost his father to a heart attack at the young age of 52, leaving behind a son, a daughter, and his wife. This was to be the beginning of Ed's Racing Endeavors. With the loss of his father, Ed and his close friend Chris Due, found their outlet, Drag Racing! Ed and Chris would cut lawns to raise enough money to get into the once famous, Irwindale Raceway. This was the beginning of what is now their love for Drag Racing. Ed and Chris, at the young age of 12, remember Ed's mom driving them to the races in the early afternoon, and dropping them off at the track to spend the entire day and night. This went on for years. Finally Ed got his break! Hanging around and washing cars to generate his money at a car lot in Pasadena called "Sticks Unlimited" (a used Corvette car lot). is where he met a man called Gene Conway. Gene at that time was sponsored by Sticks Unlimited to fund his Corvette Funny Car Operation. This is when Ed realized that this was more than just a fun time at the races. This was a passion he would have for the rest of his life. Moving the clock forward. Ed has owned over six different Race Cars, and has won numerous events. His exploratory and curious nature provides one of his greatest inspirations, and much of the fuel for his racing and other creative pursuits. He is extremely devoted and loyal, both to his friends, family, and to his life as a person. Last year in September Ed lost that wonderful person who was there for him and his friends. His mother. Her memories will live on through his racing. We will never forget the opportunities that she gave to us by her unselfish acts. RIP
