All of which over shadow the baby brother Boxster, but between the two, the Boxster is arguably the better sports car. The one here on Racing Junk has been made even better, albeit a little less practical. It was designed to compete with the BMW Z3 and the Mercedes SLK. The company\u2019s new two seat convertible distinguished itself with nimble handling, and an exotic mid engine layout. The 2.5 liter flat 6 put out 201 horsepower, and would get the car from 0-60 in 6.7 seconds.That&#8217;s almost a second slower than the current Golf GTI.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<p>On paper it would seem that the Boxster is just for people who can&#8217;t afford a Carrera, and for most people that is true. 911s are bigger, more powerful and have a more prestigious marque. But the Carrera has 2 extra seats, and an engine in the wrong place. It will always have to compensate for its rear bias weight, but the Boxster has near 50\/50 weight distribution. This means it\u2019s less likely than its big brother to act like an oversteering pendulum after you\u2019ve gotten overzealous in a corner.<\/p>\n<p>The owner of this car has turned a canyon carving drivers car into a full race car. The engine modifications are light, keeping the car streetable. The stiffer springs, sway bars and adjustable camber plates serve to accentuate the car&#8217;s already amazing driving dynamics. It&#8217;s a car with more grip than power. It&#8217;s not about outright speed, but how much speed you can carry through a chicane. It&#8217;s cornering abilities exceed your own, but it doesn&#8217;t have so much power that you might kill yourself driving it.
