Built on Superformance’s rolling chassis, these 1960s era continuation race cars are much more than kit cars, but original, new reproductions that can be built to spec with a choice of engines appropriate for the vehicle, with licensing from the original manufacturers offering buyers that extra confidence.

It’s always fun to see the vehicles out in the world, particularly at SEMA where they are both perfect original builds and tributes to their predecessors. This year, at the 2023 SEMA show in Las Vegas, the company kicked off it’s 30th anniversary celebration a touch early by introducing it’s first ever Shelby edition Superformance MKIII Roadster, which is more than a replica, but an original restomod vehicle with roots in the Shelby DNA updated for the modern age.

“In an effort to continue to evolve in the constantly changing automotive environment, we’re proud to announce this collaboration between Carroll Shelby Licensing and Superformance,” said Lance Stander, CEO of Superformance. “The new sportscar retains the timeless beauty of the original Shelby 427 Cobra while blending some modern touches to accentuate the iconic classic. The ‘Restomod’ aspect of the market today is the driving force behind this project. The CSX10000 is a blend of old and new as it incorporates several desirable features that prospective buyers want.”

Through an agreement with Carroll Shelby Licensing, these anniversary Shelby edition cars will carry a Shelby CSX10000 number and certificate.

“Carroll Shelby was a firm believer in continually improving his vehicles,” said M. Neil Cummings, CEO of Carroll Shelby Licensing, and co-CEO of Carroll Shelby International. “This anniversary roadster is a great collaboration between our companies, and we know it would have made Carroll proud.”

The CSX10000 looks and feels like a Shelby Cobra, and the model at SEMA showed off a Ford “Godzilla” V8 fitted perfectly into the engine bay, with other variations including 18-inch wheels, Wilwood brakes, independent suspension with adjustable coil overs and unequal length A-arms, and custom interior. Only 30 of the vehicles will be sold, all to their owners’ specifications.

“The Superformance 30th anniversary Shelby edition MKIII Roadster stays true to the spirit of the cars built by Carroll Shelby in the 1960s, but has modern and aesthetical enhancements,” said Stander. “The enhancements are much like those on the CSX9000 Shelby Daytona Coupe.”

Checking out RacingJunk’s visit with Stander inside the CSX1000 at SEMA 2023:

Superformance kicked off its 30th Anniversary celebration early at SEMA 2023 by showing of an original variation of a Shelby MK III.

{"_jetpack_memberships_contains_paid_content":false
[5044,3470
10012,9362,10011,10010
post-93476","post","type-post","status-publish","format-video","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-cool-cars","category-news","tag-csx10000","tag-sema-2023","tag-shelby-mkiii","tag-superformance","post_format-post-format-video
["GET
