NASCAR\u2019s Diamond Anniversary schedule for its Cup Series, Xfinity Series and NASCAR CRAFTSMAN Truck Series have been announced for the 2023 calendar year. NASCAR\u2019s 75th year of operation will see new venues for all three series and will begin and end much as it did in 2022, with the Cup Series holding its non-points-paying Clash at the L.A. Memorial Coliseum the first weekend of February and ending at Phoenix Raceway the first weekend of November.<\/p>\n

Cup Series points-paying races begin with the Daytona 500, while the Series Playoffs start at Darlington on Labor Day weekend, as they did this year. In between, the Cup Series \u201cregular season\u201d will see NASCAR\u2019s premier teams, drivers and crews travel the U.S.A. on short ovals, super speedways, road courses, dirt courses, new sites, old sites – including North Wilkesboro, which has been renovated to host the All-Star Race.<\/p>\n

There aren\u2019t many circuits that will see repeat visits from the Cup Series in 2023, but those that will are pre-ordained, like Daytona International Speedway, Las Vegas Motor Speedway, Phoenix Raceway, Charlotte Motor Speedway (both oval and Roval), Richmond, Bristol (both dirt and tarmac) and Martinsville. There is a new Chicago street race on the docket, as well. There are 27 races in the regular season, including the All-Star Race and 10 in the Playoffs for the Cup Series, a standard total of 36 points-paying contests.<\/p>\n

NASCAR\u2019s initial West Coast swing will include what it says is the final race on Auto Club Speedway\u2019s two-mile oval before that\u2019s converted to a short oval. Hopefully, wiser heads will prevail and this venue will remain as it is. After that the Cup Series goes to Sin City and Phoenix on proceeding weeks. NASCAR\u2019s annual All-Star Race takes place May 21st at North Wilkesboro Speedway, the series first visit to this historic track since 1996.<\/p>\n

Xfinity Series racers will have their first taste of competitive road racing in 2023, as the four-decade touring series serves as companion races to the Cup Series at both Sonoma Raceway and for the Chicago Street Race. The Xfinity Series starts its Playoffs on Bristol Motor Speedway\u2019s banked oval and ends its season, along with the Cup Series on the one-mile Phoenix Raceway oval.<\/p>\n

With CRAFTSMAN returning as series sponsor, the Truck Series joins the Cup Series on All-Star Weekend, racing at North Wilkesboro, and the trucks get to race on the historic Milwaukee Mile as the second contest of its Round of 10 Playoffs.<\/p>\n
