The RPM Act has another official supporter in Antron Brown who brings his expertise to a Senate hearing on the act.<\/em><\/h2>\n

NHRA Top Fuel star Antron Brown is heading away from the track and to the Hill on September 7, 2022 to testify before the Senate Environment and Public Works Committee as it considers passing the Recognizing the Protection of Motorsports (RPM) Act.<\/a><\/p>\n

\u201cThe RPM Act is essential to the racing community, particularly for grassroots racers who are just getting started,\u201d said Brown. \u201cIt\u2019s imperative that we protect the ability for young men and women to be able to compete at the track. The RPM Act will give racers the assurance they need to continue this American tradition.\u201d<\/p>\n

Brown’s advocacy is part of the attempt to secure access to racing at a grassroots level for potential racers entering the sport. The RPM Act claims to “enshrine in Federal law the right to modify street vehicles into dedicated race vehicles, thereby giving the racing community the certainty it needs to continue a long-standing practice without fear of EPA enforcement.” Basically, most racers aren’t coming to the sport with a fully formed, trailerable race car. They’re modding their street vehicle to perform on the track. The RPM Act is an attempt to answer the EPA’s position that this type of modification violates efforts are illegal (due to the potential environmental impact).<\/p>\n

\u201cPassage of the RPM Act will bring clarity to grassroots racers and businesses that manufacture, sell and distribute motorsports parts,\u201d said Mike Spagnola, SEMA president and CEO. \u201cWe\u2019re grateful to the elected officials who strongly support and advocate for Congress to pass the RPM Act. The industry has been in limbo and in a state of uncertainty for far too long; it\u2019s time to pass the RPM Act!\u201d<\/p>\n

Brown’s testimony will highlight the benefits of the race industry to the economy and to community.<\/p>\n
