Despite missing out on a playoff spot at this weekend\u2019s Federated Auto Parts 400 race at Richmond Raceway, Truex, Jr. still had reason to celebrate a brand-new beginning recently. Thanks to a little help from Novant Health, NASCAR fans, and even a few of his fellow drivers, Martin Truex, Jr. and his girlfriend Sherry Pollex celebrated the opening of their foundation\u2019s first specialized pediatric emergency services center. Located within Novant Health Huntersville Medical Center, the Martin Truex Jr. Foundation Children\u2019s Emergency Services 5,000-square-fott children\u2019s ER space features a child-friendly environment, that includes nine private treatment rooms, a triage room, a treatment room for all of those scrapes and strains, sleep chairs for emergencies late at night, and even a NASCAR-themed family waiting room.<\/p>\n
Thanks to following Truex and Pollex\u2019s commitment to provide the very best health care for children, the Martin Truex Foundation Emergency Services center is also staffed with doctors and nurses specializing in pediatric care and even a child life specialist who will help young children and teens overcome stress and trauma that so many have become exposed to over the last few years.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe are excited to officially open the doors to this children\u2019s emergency department in Huntersville,\u201d said Truex. \u201cThere is a real need for pediatric emergency care in the Lake Norman area of North Carolina and we are fortunate to have partnerships like the one with Novant Health as well as many donors within the NASCAR community, who have made this dream a reality.\u201d<\/p>\n
