Tyler Reddick\u2019s month of July is turning out to be an incredible one. Reddick earned his first NASCAR Cup Series victory for Richard Childress Racing (RCR) on the Road America rod course July 12th. Now in his in his third season in NASCAR\u2019s premier series, Reddick confirmed his plans for 2023 to continue with RCR and then revealed that he\u2019s joining 23XI Racing the following year, 2024.<\/p>\n
\u201cI\u2019m thrilled to have the chance to join this team and look forward to how I can contribute to the organization,\u201d Reddick said after the public declaration of his 2024 change of venue. \u201c23XI has accomplished a lot in the less than two full seasons they\u2019ve been in the garage, and I can\u2019t wait to a part of that continued success. Until then, my focus remains on my current team, winning races and being competitive,\u201d he confirmed.<\/p>\n
The two-time NASCAR Xfinity Series champion joins the team founded by basketball legend Michael Jordan and NASCAR superstar Denny Hamlin in 2021. At that time Bubba Wallace was the sole driver for 23XI Racing, joined this year by 2004 NASCAR Cup Series champion Kurt Busch.<\/p>\n
Wallace took the No. 23 Toyota Camry TRD to his first Cup Series victory last year, where he became the second Black American – after Wendell Scott – to earn the checkered flags at Talladega Superspeedway on October 4th. Busch\u2019s No. 45 Camry was first to the checkered flags at Kansas Speedway on May 14th of this year.<\/p>\n

The team indicated the signing of Reddick for their 2024 campaign, \u201cHighlights 23XI\u2019s continued commitment to building a championship caliber organization.\u201d Grabbing two NASCAR Cup Series in only its second year of operation is an accomplishment many teams have never been able to see in their own house.<\/p>\n
Co-owner Hamlin remarked, \u201cTyler is one of the most sought-after young drivers, and has been competitive in everything he\u2019s raced. His work on the track speaks for itself and he will make a fantastic addition to our lineup for 2024,\u201d Hamlin said. \u201cThe team has seen a lot of growth since our first race and signing Tyler is a great next step for us to remain competitive for years to come.\u201d<\/p>\n
Realizing that it\u2019s unusual to announce a driver this far in advance, Steve Lauretta, 23XI team president confirmed, \u201cIn making the announcement now, the team has ample time to prepare for 2024 on the business side, as we expect interest from potential partners and continue to see strong engagement from our current partners.\u201d He thought it was important to secure Reddick\u2019s services: \u201cTyler was the driver we wanted and we did not want to miss the opportunity to bring him to our team.\u201d<\/p>\n
Minutes after Reddick\u2019s 2024 plans were revealed, Richard Childress Racing stated: \u201cWe\u2019re focused on wining a championship in 2022 and 2023, although timing of this announcement could not be any worse,\u201d it said. Toyota officials didn\u2019t confirm whether this move by 23XI Racing meant an expansion of the team or replacement of one of its two current drivers, Wallace and Busch. In addition to his recent Cup Series victory, Reddick owns 10 Xfinity Series victories and three wins in NASCAR\u2019s Camping World Truck Series.<\/p>\n
