Two of NASCAR\u2019s biggest former Cup Series stars are headed to The Madhouse tomorrow to shake down NASCAR\u2019s Next Gen car. Dale Earnhardt Jr. and Clint Bowyer both volunteered to be on hand to test the ride that will race at The Clash at the Coliseum at Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum in Feb 2022.<\/p>\n

Why the short track that has become famous for flared tempers and plenty of trashed machines to test NASCAR\u2019s latest short track vehicle? Since the track in Los Angeles has a similar design, officials at NASCAR felt that testing Next Gen at Bowman Gray Stadium\u2019s 0.25-mile flat, asphalt oval in Winston Salem, North Carolina would give their new ride the best test for this upcoming race.<\/p>\n

\u201cI think the large fan base that we have here in Los Angeles, the largest that we actually have in the nation, paired with exciting racing and being here in the downtown Los Angeles market, I think will be really special and this track will get us ready for this event,\u201d said Ben Kennedy, NASCAR\u2019s senior vice president of strategy and innovation.<\/p>\n

During the two-day Next Gen test two weeks ago at the Charlotte Motor Speedway road course, it was revealed NASCAR would also hold tests for the Next Gen car, with Earnhardt Jr., Bowyer and Tony Stewart at Wythe Raceway\u2019s half-mile dirt track in Rural Retreat, Virginia.<\/p>\n

The test at Wythe is set for Tuesday, Nov. 16 and will be in preparation for next season\u2019s return of the Bristol Dirt Race.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
