Beginning with Saturday night’s World of Outlaws Morton Buildings Late Model Illini 100, at Farmer City Raceway, where hometown driver Bobby Pierce would break his winless streak after taking off from the outside front at the start of Saturday’s 75-Lap feature event and never looking back for a $20,000 win.

After dominating the first 70 laps of this race Pierce, was finally challenged on the final five laps by the 20RT of Ricky Thornton Jr. on the low side of the track. Despite this challenge, Pierce easily rose to the challenge up high. This battle caused Thornton to suffer an issue late in the race, bringing out the only caution of the 75-lap race. The yellow flag set up a five-lap shootout between then second place Cade Dillard and Pierce for a single-file restart. Following the wave of the final green flag, Dillard went low and snuck by the Pierce’s No. 32 on the bottom and pulled away by about three car-lengths. Although it looked like Dillard would steal the victory, the final lap would give Pierce a chance to rocket off of the top again to race to a victory.

“We finally did it,” said Pierce. “With all the crown jewel races and major events we have won, it’s hard to believe this was our first World of Outlaws Late Model Series win. I definitely could not have been this dominate without all of my family and friends, my crew and even my fans for helping me make this happen. A special congrats also goes out to Cade Dillard and Brandon Sheppard on their second and third place finishes.”

While Bobby Pierce would dominate Saturday’s Illinois 100 late model race, one of the most victorious drivers in the World of Outlaws NOS Energy Drink Sprint Car Series this season would once again be the dominating force in Saturday night’s 40 Lap feature at Pevely, MO’s Federated Auto Parts Raceway at I-55. Despite earning the pole position following his win in the DIRTVision Fast Pass Dash, Brad Sweet had a serious challenge ahead of him as no pole-sitter has won all year with the World of Outlaws. Despite the supposed curse the Grass Valley, CA native was up for the task at hand. So much so that Sweet stayed on the gas from the drop of the green flag and led every lap following challenges from Gio Scelzi and Sheldon Haudenschild, who both started to catch the race leader in the opening laps of this race.

A red flag on lap 25 also gave a few other drivers a chance to chase down the two-time and defending Series champion thanks to a double-file restart. After cruising around the cushion, just inches off the wall, and making all of the right moves through the last 15 laps, Sweet stopped yet another curse after racing to his 63rd victory of his World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series career.

“This win feels better than most,” said Sweet. “I feel like everyone still kind of thinks of us as the underdog, so maybe they’ll give us some credit now. Both myself and my team feel really good right now. I am in a good place as a race car driver, the car is handling great, and this crew is doing an amazing job so we are looking forward to more and more wins as this season continues.”

Both Pierce and Sweet will have a chance to continue their domination next weekend beginning with the World of Outlaws Morton Buildings Late Model Series, who will follow in NASCAR’s reattempt to go dirt car racing at Bristol Motor Speedway, April 8-10, for the Bristol Bash. Sweet and his fellow World of Outlaws NOS Energy Sprint Car Series drivers will head to Kokomo Speedway, in Kokomo, IN, on Friday, April 9 and then Tri-State Speedway, in Haubstadt, IN on Saturday, April 10, for an Indiana double header.

Stay tuned to RacingJunk.com for all of the latest racing news straight from the dirt.

The stars of both the World of Outlaws Morton Buildings Late Model and NOS Energy Sprint Car Series were back to racing this weekend and two drivers would prove that both they and their teams had what it took to dominate two of the toughest dirt tracks in both Farmer City, IL, and Pevely, MO.

{"_jetpack_memberships_contains_paid_content":false
[772,3,17,3470,5029,22
1475,41,8371,1223,1296,166
post-78664","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-circle-track-racing","category-dirt-track-racing","category-guest-column","category-news","category-racing","category-event-coverage","tag-late-model","tag-news","tag-nos-energy-sprint-cars","tag-sprint-car","tag-woo","tag-world-of-outlaws

https://www.racingjunk.com/news/wp-content/uploads/2021/04/WOO-Illinois-100_Feature-Photo-min-e1617651114932.jpg
["GET
