Mason Ludwig is a high school senior and late model racer from Mayfield Township, Michigan. He’s been racing since he was 7, and is as serious about his commitment to giving back as he is to his race career.<\/em><\/p>\n

RacingJunk: What do you race (car, series, etc)?<\/strong><\/p>\n

Mason Ludwig:<\/em> <\/strong>I have been racing late model stocks for the past 3 years mainly at Hickory Motor Speedway. For this coming season, I am considering the move from late models to super late models and also working with a team and finalizing the details to run a minimum of 4 ARCA races with them.<\/p>\n

RacingJunk: <\/strong> How did you get started racing?<\/p>\n

Mason Ludwig:<\/em> <\/strong>I got my start by racing dirt oval track go-karts at Arthur Raceway in Reese, Michigan when I was 7 years old. My parents thought it was something I might like because I always wanted to drive everything and played racing a lot. They found the local track and bought a kart for me to try it out and I’ve been racing ever since. I’ve raced go-karts, Bandoleros, Legends, and late models.<\/p>\n

RacingJunk: <\/strong>What do you do BESIDES racing?<\/p>\n

Mason Ludwig:<\/em> <\/strong>When I’m not racing, I enjoy riding dirtbikes, hunting, and fishing. I’m finishing up my senior year of high school online. My family made the move to North Carolina in Feb of 2020 to help my racing career. Things haven’t gone quite as planned, thanks to COVID-19, so we’ve been living in our motorhome for much longer than we anticipated.<\/p>\n

RacingJunk: <\/strong>What is your favorite thing about racing?<\/p>\n

Mason Ludwig:<\/em> <\/strong>This is a hard one for me. I love everything about racing and what it offers. I love the speed and being able to just basically go into a different world for a while. I feel like I’m good at it and it makes me feel good about myself. But I would have to say my favorite thing is traveling to different tracks and the quality time I get to spend with my family and good friends.<\/p>\n

RacingJunk: <\/strong>You mention your video series in your inTech video. Can you talk a little bit more about that?<\/p>\n

Mason Ludwig:<\/em> <\/strong>This past year, I started a video series on YouTube called “Fueling Up America.”<\/a>\u00a0I knew small businesses would be hurt with the shutdown and wanted a way to help them get through the pandemic. I have featured several businesses by putting together short videos about their products and services and providing my viewers with the information they need to find them.<\/p>\n

Throughout my racing career, I’ve always tried to give back. I feel fortunate to have been able to raise funds to help several charities, such as: Lapeer’s Adoptable Animals, The March of Dimes and The Greatest Generations Foundation.<\/p>\n

RacingJunk: <\/strong>What will winning the trailer sponsorship allow you to do now that you can’t currently do? How will it help develop your race career?<\/p>\n

Mason Ludwig:<\/em><\/strong> Winning the trailer sponsorship will help me by providing a trailer because we currently don’t even have a trailer. For the past few years, I have been with a team that hauled the car for us. This coming year, we are planning a different path and this would allow us to put more money into my racing program, rather than the expense of a trailer. I’m also excited about the opportunity to be able to represent the sponsors of this contest this coming year. I can’t thank Intech Trailers, Racingjunk.com, Car Chix, The United States Motorsports Association, Motul, and Redtide Canopies enough for supporting grassroots drivers like myself.<\/p>\n
