One aid in achieving this is GM’s new Ultium batteries, which feature energy options range from 50 to 200 kWh. This could enable a GM-estimated range of 400 miles or more on a full charge and 0 to 60 mph acceleration as little as three seconds. In-house engines should support front-wheel drive, rear-wheel drive, all-wheel drive and performance all-wheel drive applications.

In furtherance of their EV-related goals, GM has said that Chevrolet, Cadillac, GMC and Buick will all be launching new EVs starting this year. The company’s first product using a third-generation EV platform and the new Ultium batteries has been displayed to the public already – it’s the Cruise Origin, a self-driving, electric shared vehicle. Other vehicles taking advantage of these new technologies should follow suit soon.

GM has decided to focus on electric vehicle sales as they look forward into the predicted future of the auto market.

{"_jetpack_memberships_contains_paid_content":false
[3470
6142,5845,67,41,3735
post-69961","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-news","tag-electric","tag-electric-vehicle","tag-gm","tag-news","tag-press-releases
["GET
