First released by famed Ford Racing entrepreneur Carroll Shelby and Ford Motor Company in 1968, the first 2020 Ford Mustang Shelby GT500 of the year is a tribute to the original Green Hornet and will once again be one of the most unusual of its kind.

The plan to bring a Ford legend back to life, in more ways than one, was first announced at SEMA in late 2019. This special edition Mustang wouldn’t be possible without Barrett Jackson CEO Craig Johnson, who paid 1.1 million at his company’s Scottsdale auction about one year ago to purchase the rights to the first 2020 Mustang Shelby GT500 of the year to benefit the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation.

The newest customized Shelby tribute was designed with the same custom candy apple green color as the historic ‘68 Chevy that Jackson also paid millions of dollars to own. Despite being painted the same color as the original model, this customized Mustang was equipped with a one-of-a-kind carbon fiber track package and a powerful, drag racing capable engine capable of generating up to 760 HP, quite different from the original model. Thanks to these and other-race ready features, the newest customized Shelby is worth more than $100,000. Both it and its predecessor will be on display at this year’s Scottsdale auction, which kicks off Jan. 11.

Ford Motor Company is back at it again with the re-release of “The Green Hornet” Ford Mustang.

{"_jetpack_memberships_contains_paid_content":false
[3470
241,1619,4396,43,7267,892,41,156
post-68534","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-news","tag-barrett-jackson","tag-ellen-richardson","tag-featured-cars","tag-ford","tag-green-hornet","tag-mustang","tag-news","tag-sema

https://www.racingjunk.com/news/wp-content/uploads/2020/01/2020-Ford-Mustang-Shelby-GT500-Green-Machine-FEATURE-IMG-min.jpg
["GET
