About 1,200 General Motors employees at the company\u2019s assembly plant in Oshawa, Ontario Canada, have been temporarily laid off because of a strike in the United States.<\/p>\n<p>Employees who work on the Oshawa truck line at this Canadian General Motors plant no longer have a normal day\u2019s work due to a of parts from the U.S. While these employees will still receive full wages while the strike by some 48,000 GM workers in the U.S. continues, Unifor president Jerry Dias says he expects the second line at the Oshawa plant to also be disrupted as early as tomorrow, which would leave 2,600 workers at this plant without a job for an unknown amount of time.<\/p>\n<p>Along with layoffs at the Oshawa plant, employees at GM\u2019s Cami plant in Ingersoll, Ontario could also be out of job by early next week due to this strike while the St. Catharines Ontario plant \u00a0could be hit by the middle of next week.
