On a middle of the week racing trip to one of the biggest half-miles in Iowa, one driver would prove that he had both might and muscle to get the job done at Davenport Speedway. Although the No. 15b of Brian Birkhofer started on the pole alongside the No. 157 of Mike Marlar, a red flag situation following the drop of the green flag gave the driver known by fans as The O-Show an opportunity to race to the lead.<\/p>\n

After grabbing both the lead and as much clean air as possible on the restart, on lap 38, Jimmy Owens and his No. 2 racing machine took off like a rocket. At one point, his lead stretched to just under five whole seconds before he hit lapped traffic.<\/p>\n

Owens was met with two restarts before the checkered flag fell, one taking 2018 World of Outlaws Champion Mike Marlar out of the race in a big cloud of smoke on a lap 33 restart. This put the Rocket Brandon Sheppard directly behind Owens, who has always made the most of these opportunities.<\/p>\n

Despite Sheppard\u2019s best efforts to take the lead on Wednesday night\u2019s race restart, Owens and his Ramirez Motorsports ride took off like a rocket off of turn four and left the field in the dust to collect the 14th World of Outlaws Feature win of his career.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis was a great race and a perfect win,\u201d said Owens. \u201cMy Ramirez Motorsports ride was great from the time we unloaded, and although this is the first time that we have ever raced at this big ol\u2019 racetrack and my motor felt like it was screaming at me about halfway down the straight-away, everything worked out perfectly.\u201d<\/p>\n

After a grueling middle of the week stent, the World of Outlaws now stare down a grueling schedule of seven races over the next ten days, starting with the 30th annual Prairie Dirt Classic at Fairbury Speedway on Friday, July 26. The 100-lap, $30,000-to-win main event will conclude the weekend on Saturday night, before just one day off on Sunday and back to racing at Plymouth Dirt Track and Shawano Speedway on July 29 & 30.
