After coming up short in the past, 2006 World of Outlaws Morton Buildings Late Model Series champion Tim McCreadie found a way to charge from an 11th<\/sup> place starting position to earn a victory at the Firecracker 100 at Lernerville Speedway.<\/p>\n

Although Series points leader the Rocket Brandon Sheppard would start the 100-Lap feature on the first lap to lead over half of this race, the final laps of this race would give the driver of the No. 6M K&L Rumley-owned Bilstein a chance to overpower the driver that seemed unstoppable.<\/p>\n

As the laps wound down in this race Sheppard would begin to get marred down in lapped traffic, thanks to a caution free race. This traffic would give the No. 7 of Ricky Weiss the chance to power his way to the lead over the next 20 laps as the race continued caution-free. As the leaders crossed the stripe to complete lap 95, Weiss got a bit too high and kissed the wall at the flag stand.<\/p>\n

While Weiss limped his car around the track for another lap-and-a-half a cut-down tire would eventually leave him with a 16th<\/sup> place finish. Weiss\u2019s loss would be Darrell Lanigan\u2019s gain, who would take the lead after 95 straight laps without a caution. Lanigan assumed the lead under the yellow and found McCreadie right on his bumper. This lead would be short-lived though as McCreadie found grip on the cushion after the first two corners of Lap 96 and took this to both a race lead and eventually the $30,000 race win.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis race win is amazing,\u201d said an elated McCreadie. \u201cI had been making moves up top the whole night, so I thought what have I got to lose? Besides, why should I work so hard for a lousy second place finish?\u201d<\/p>\n

Despite leading most of the laps in this race, the current Series points leader was forced to settle for a third-place finish on Saturday night, but retains the points lead as the Outlaws next head to the Terre Haute Action Track for a duel with the stars of the DIRTcar Summer Nationals tour on Friday, June 28.
