NASCAR\u2019s XFINITY and Monster energy NASCAR Cup series raced into <\/span><\/span>Richmond<\/span><\/span><\/a><\/u><\/span> this past weekend and put on a good show for fans. Cole Custer ended up on top in a hard fought battle in Saturday\u2019s XFINITY Series ToyotaCare 250. Sunday saw Martin Truex, Jr. end his losing streak in his 81<\/span><\/span>st<\/span><\/span><\/sup> try in the Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Toyota Owners 400.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Stewart-Haas Racing<\/span><\/span><\/a><\/u><\/span>\u2019s <\/span><\/span>Cole Custer<\/span><\/span><\/a><\/u><\/span> regained the lead late in Saturday\u2019s ToyotaCare 25 after losing it to <\/span><\/span>Austin Cindric<\/span><\/span><\/a><\/u><\/span> during the last restart with 26 laps left in the race. Custer, the winner of Stage Two, barreled by Cindric and never looked back, beating Cindric by 2.639 seconds. <\/span><\/span>Justin Allgaier<\/span><\/span><\/a><\/u><\/span>, who won the First Stage, held on for a third place finish after having a dominant car early in the race.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Custer feels that his team will be in peak fitness when the Playoffs roll around and told reporters after the race: \u201cWe had a great car. (Crew Chief Mike Shiplett) made great adjustments as it went\u2026 This one means a lot. We hadn\u2019t had a short-track win yet. We\u2019ve struggled a lot at short tracks, but this helps. We\u2019re just going to be a team that gets better and better as the year goes on.\u201d<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Martin Truex, Jr<\/span><\/span><\/a><\/u><\/span>. has finally won on a short track. Sunday\u2019s victory in the Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series Toyota Owners 400 was his 20<\/span><\/span>th<\/span><\/span><\/sup> career win, but he\u2019d never won on a short track before. All it took was changing to <\/span><\/span>Joe Gibbs Racing<\/span><\/span><\/a><\/u><\/span> after winning the championship with Furniture Row. The win was the sixth of the season for JGR (<\/span><\/span>Team Penske<\/span><\/span><\/a><\/u><\/span> has won the other three this season).\u00a0<\/span><\/span>Joey Logano<\/span><\/span><\/a><\/u><\/span> continued his strong follow-up to winning the championship last year with a second place finish after passing third-place finisher <\/span><\/span>Clint Bowyer<\/span><\/span><\/a><\/u><\/span> in the final laps. <\/span><\/span>Kyle Busch<\/span><\/span><\/a><\/u><\/span> won the First Stage and Logano was the winner of the second. <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
