The \u201c3-Penny Roadster\u201d owned by George Poteet of Memphis, TN and built by Pinkee\u2019s Rod Stop in Windsor, CO has been named \u201cAmerican\u2019s Most Beautiful Roadster\u201d during the 70th<\/sup> Annual Grand National Roadster Show at the Pomona Fairplex on January 27th<\/sup>.\u00a0 The America\u2019s Most Beautiful Roadster award is presented each year to the best open hot rod in the country. This year\u2019s winner took home the $10,000 prize and is now memorialized on the over 9 foot tall trophy. This is the first AMBR win for both the owner and builder. The \u201c3-Penny Roadster\u201d stood out in the competition due to its mix of excellent craftsmanship, understated styling and body modifications and tailor-made warm gray PPG paint.<\/p>\n

\u201cGeorge Poteet\u2019s 1936 Ford is a truly world-class hot rod and one of the most unique cards we\u2019ve seen in years,\u201d said John Buck, owner of Rod Shows and producer of the Grand National Roadster Show. \u201c1936 Fords are a rare sight in AMBR competition, and our judges loved the car\u2019s blend of traditional and modern styling cues. We\u2019re proud to honor it as this year\u2019s America\u2019s Most Beautiful Roadster.\u201d<\/p>\n

This year\u2019s show featured a couple special exhibits including \u201c90 Years of the Ford Model A\u201d which celebrated the 90th<\/sup> anniversary of the Ford Model A and the \u201cBuilder of the Decade\u201d where Chip Foose was honored. Other awards given during the ceremony include Johnny Martin\u2019s 1957 Chevrolet 150 Hardtop \u201cImagine\u201d receiving the Al Slonaker Memorial Award and John Mumford\u2019s 1929 Ford Model A \u201cAla Kart\u201d, won the Bruce Meyer Hot Rod Preservation Award.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
