November\u2019s painful wildfires in California caused widespread devastation to both animate and inanimate objects. There was destruction that wiped out the entire town of Paradise and nearly did the same to the tiny enclave of Malibu.<\/p>\n

A generous group of California natives who ply their trade in NHRA\u2019s Mello Yello Drag Racing Series have elected to give resources that can aid those needing to rebuild. Leah Pritchett, Ron Capps and Jack Beckman watched in horror as the Camp and Woolsey fires consumed large portions of the state last month.<\/p>\n

The Don Schumacher Racing trio – 2012 Funny Car champion Beckman (8th in 2018 standings), 2016 flopper champ Capps (4th) and 2018 SAMTech.edu Factory Stock Showdown titleholder Pritchett, who finished fourth in Top Fuel with two national event wins – assembled items for auction to benefit survivors.<\/p>\n

Using Don Schumacher Racing\u2019s eBay page, and with all proceeds to benefit humanitarian aid organization Direct Relief (https:\/\/www.directrelief.org\/emergency\/wildfire\/<\/a>), the auction went live December 11th at 6PM EST and ends at the same time December 18th, thus ensuring winners receive their items in time for the Christmas holiday.<\/p>\n

Items up for auction include autographed crew shirts from all 11 of Pritchett\u2019s 2018 NHRA Mello Yello T\/F entries. Beckman crafted a 2019 Jack Beckman VIP race experience package, while Capps hopes to raise funds through his donations of NAPA Racing crew shirts from his four 2018 liveries.<\/p>\n

\u201cMy 95-year-old grandma is one of the evacuees, so this does hit very close to home,\u201d said Beckman. \u201cWe\u2019ll never be able to make people whole again, but anything we can do to help ease the situation in any way, we\u2019re willing to do.\u201d<\/p>\n

While he\u2019s seen wildfires up close, Capps \u201ccan\u2019t even imagine what our fellow Californians are going through. Seeing and hearing about the devastation and the loss that many of those residents have gone through, it makes your heart hurt,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

\u201cInitially we were going to donate clothes, as we all have so many branded items in new or like-new condition,\u201d noted Pritchett. After conversing with followers, she realized it was monetized assistance that would serve survivors\u2019 needs better, so she\u2019s \u201cglad my team\u2019s ever-diverse rainbow of crew shirts will be used to help those afflicted.\u201d<\/p>\n
