NASCAR\u00b4s best took on The Monster Mile this weekend,<\/strong> and the younger generation came out on top. Christopher Bell raced into the record books by winning on Saturday in the Bar Harbor 200. Chase Elliott got his second career and season win after taking the lead late in Sunday\u00b4s Gander Outdoors 400.<\/p>\n

Bell Has Perfect Day Spoiled on Way to XFINITY Rookie Record<\/strong><\/p>\n

Bell<\/a> was driving to a perfect day in his JGR<\/a> number 20, but had it spoiled during the second stage by Daniel Hemric in his RCR number 21 when Daniel crossed the stripe in first, taking the second stage win from Bell. Bell was able to hold on for the win after a lap 178\/200 wreck. The win was Bell\u00b4s second in a row and his sixth for the season-a rookie record. Cole Custer<\/a> drove his SHR<\/a> number 00 to second and Justin Allgaier<\/a> held on in his JRM<\/a> number 7 for third.<\/p>\n

Elliott Gets Second Win of Season\/Career in NASCAR Overtime Win<\/strong><\/p>\n

Sunday\u00b4s Gander Outdoors 400 was dominated by Kevin Harvick until a broken valve stem suffered during the second stage pit stop took him out of contention for the win. The only excitement then came on the parade laps when Jimmie Johnson broke his right lower ball joint and had to go to the garage for 15 laps.<\/p>\n

There was very little action on track until late in the race, when there were a couple of cautions in quick succession. Chase Elliott<\/a> took the lead after the last caution and never gave it up. The win was Elliott\u00b4s second of his Cup career and the second on the season and propels him into the next round of the playoffs. Denny Hamlin<\/a> rebounded from his 15th<\/sup> starting position to take second place, while Joey Logano<\/a> improved his sixth place start to a third place finish.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
