While many NHRA Mello Yello Drag Racing Series drivers enjoyed their off-weekend spending time with family somewhere tropical or just catching up on sleep, Pro Stock driver Erica Enders decided to try her hand at another prestigious title \u2013 2018 DRAG ILLUSTRATED World Series of Pro Mod Champion.<\/p>\n
Although it appeared she was well on her way to winning this illustrious title, after Friday\u2019s qualifying session and taking the win in the first elimination round against the Turbo Pig Clint Satterfield with a 6.076-second pass at 242.80 MPH, this impressive driver came up short on the final day of competition at Bandimere Speedway.<\/p>\n
After taking on eventual World Series of Pro Mod winner Carl Stevens Jr. in the second round, Enders would fall behind after her 5.922-second pass at 243.99 MPH was defeated by Stevens impressive 5.897-second run at 246.66 MPH.<\/p>\n

Despite losing out on this first-time title, Enders said she doesn\u2019t regret spending her weekend off participating in this one-of-a-kind experience.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt was an honor just to be invited to this amazing event,\u201d said Enders. \u201cIt was a really good time. In fact, this event is more laid back than the events that I am used to, which is a welcome change.\u201d<\/p>\n
While Enders will run the same car in the NHRA\u2019s Pro Mod class, at the U.S. Nationals in Indianapolis (Aug. 29-Sept. 3), here\u2019s hoping she has another opportunity to race for the 2019 World Series of Pro Mod Championship.
