Last year, Roush-Fenway took notice of the fact that while they have teams in the Xfinity and Camping World series, they really don\u2019t have a driver development program per se that is designed to ensure they always have talented drivers waiting to step into empty cars in the Cup Series. They recently announced plans to change that.<\/p>\n

New Driver Development Team for Young Ford Drivers<\/strong><\/p>\n

The team is a three-way project between Roush-Fenway<\/a>, Ford Performance<\/a> and Team Penske<\/a> to develop the talents of drivers in the \u201cFord family of NASCAR race teams.\u201d Two of the drivers drove in the Camping World<\/a> trucks last year. Both were rookies last year and both competed for the series trophy. Austin Cindric<\/a> finished third overall and Chase Briscoe<\/a> ended the season in sixth. Both drove for the now expired Brad Keselowski Racing team.<\/p>\n

Ty Majeski<\/a> ranked highly in last year\u2019s NASCAR Next<\/a> class and has many races in the ARCA Series under his belt. Majeski already has two races in the Xfinity Series to his credit. He debuted in the car at the U.S. Cellular 250 at Iowa Speedway<\/a> and scored an impressive 16th<\/sup> place finish. His next race was the season finale, the Ford Ecoboost 300 at Homestead-Miami Speedway<\/a>. Ty improved on his previous best with a tenth place finish.<\/p>\n

Three Will Share Time in Team\u2019s Iconic Number 60<\/strong><\/p>\n

Cindric, Briscoe, and Majeski will share time in Roush-Fenway\u2019s Number 60 Ford Mustang in 2018. Although an exact schedule for the drivers hasn\u2019t been announced yet, the team did say the car would compete in every Xfinity race of the 2018 season. Ricky Stenhouse\u2019s old Xfinity crew chief, Mike Kelley, will sit atop the pit box throughout the year.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
