We at RacingJunk.com are extending our deepest condolences to the family, friends and the entire NASCAR family following the passing of veteran NASCAR engine builder and team owner Robert Yates. The 2018 NASCAR Hall of Fame inductee passed away on Monday after a battle with liver cancer.<\/p>\n

The youngest of nine children born to a family of a Baptist minister in Charlotte, Yates overcame rheumatic fever and a debilitating concussion that left him with headaches and dizziness for most of his life to forge an amazing career as the famed team owner of Robert Yates Racing and co-founder of Roush Yates Engines.<\/p>\n

Yates engine building talent has been responsible for the horsepower that led several of the sport\u2019s legendary drivers to victories as well as championships, including David Pearson, Bobby Allison and Dale Jarrett. As a team owner, Yates also won 57 times at NASCAR\u2019s top level with drivers Davey Allison, Ernie Irvan, Jarrett, Ricky Rudd and Elliott Sadler.<\/p>\n

Today, Roush-Yates Engines, owned and operated by Robert\u2019s son Doug, supplies Ford engines to several NASCAR teams.<\/p>\n

As one of the most genuine and loved members of the NASCAR community, both drivers and others involved within the motorsports world are continuing to pass along their thoughts and condolences.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
