Now, it looks like it’s actually going to be a high-powered performance vehicle. For real.

Dodge announced today that the Demon will make an appearance for the 2018 season as the 2018 Dodge Challenger SRT Demon, which will be unveiled at the New York International Auto Show.

The Demon name first appeared as a variant of the ’71 Dodge Dart, and later showcased as a concept in 2008 but never went to production. Thanks to the success of the SRT Hellcat variations of the Charger and Challenger, Dodge is adding a new variant to these muscley monsters.
“Most cars attempt to be everything to everybody. Refusing to be caged, the beast transforms, thus beginning a new chapter in the Dodge brand’s performance legacy. While Dodge isn’t going for subtletly, it is a lot more fun than most debut build-ups.

Dodge will unveil more details about the Challenger SRT Demon via video shorts that highlight the engineering prowess that has gone into its development, including a countdown clock tells viewers when the next installment will be uncaged.
