Fiat Chrysler Automobiles will reopen ordering for the last production year of the Dodge Viper.\u00a0Viper ordering was closed Oct. 7 and ordering of the track beast ACR model closed September 27.\u00a0Tim Kuniskis, head of Fiat Chrysler-North America passenger-car brands, said \u201cWe actually had to shut down the ordering because we outran our headlights,\u201d he told The Detroit News this month on the sidelines of the Los Angeles Auto Show. \u201cWe didn\u2019t know if we were going to have enough parts to build all the cars that people ordered.\u201d<\/p>\n

Tim Kuniskis, head of Fiat Chrysler-North America passenger-car brands, said \u201cWe actually had to shut down the ordering because we outran our headlights,\u201d he told The Detroit News this month on the sidelines of the Los Angeles Auto Show. \u201cWe didn\u2019t know if we were going to have enough parts to build all the cars that people ordered.\u201d<\/p>\n

Dodge is also having a tough time fulfilling\u00a0orders for the track focused ACR model.\u00a0The company also has experienced a shortage of its custom-built carbon-fiber \u201cextreme aero wings\u201d for it’s halo car.\u00a0\u201cThe demand for ACR is off the charts \u2014 way more than we ever expected,\u201d Kuniskis said. \u201cWe are close to opening it back up now that we know how many more we can build.<\/p>\n

Since Dodge announced they were doing away with the Viper, the sales have rocketed as most specialty vehicles on their way out tend to do.
