Stroud Safety<\/h3>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.stroudsafety.com\/index.html\">Stroud Safety <\/a>\u00a0was founded\u00a020 years ago when owner Bob Stroud applied his engineering degree and knowledge of parachutes and safety equipment to racing with the creation of his\u00a0Drag Chutes. \u00a0Since then, the company has become the go to face of race safety, launching new products like fire suits, drag boots, seat belts and restraints,\u00a0and other equipment to keep all sorts of racers safer.<\/p>\n<p>Recently, Stroud Safety began supplying Track Safety Packages to drag racing facilities around the globe to help encourage safe standards and practices.<\/p>\n<p>Bob Stroud answered a few questions for RacingJunk.com to help pass some race safety tips along to our readers.<\/p>\n<p><img important safety tip you can offer racers?<\/strong><br \/>\nA:\u00a0 \u00a0<em>Don\u2019t skip on safety.\u00a0If you can\u2019t afford safety don\u2019t race.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><strong>Q: How can the right equipment help keep them safe? What are some of the pieces that are essentials?<\/strong><br \/>\nA:\u00a0 <em>Start with the basics.\u00a0If you have a car and you don\u2019t have a cage nothing will help.\u00a0If you have racing seatbelts and don\u2019t have a racing seat they just won\u2019t work.\u00a0If you don\u2019t have a SFI approved racing suit you obviously don\u2019t care about your potential of loss of life.\u00a0If you have a $10.00 helmet you must have a $10.00 head.\u00a0Protect yourself.\u00a0Just because your track or buddy or class says you have to only have the minimum doesn\u2019t mean you don\u2019t need it.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><strong>Q:What can a racer do to be a better safety advocate?\u00a0And how do you think a well-known racers actions effect up and coming racers in terms of safety? Are there things they can do to model good practices?<\/strong><br \/>\nA:\u00a0 <em>Use of proper safety equipment so they can race a long time to be alive to tell your stories of how particular equipment saved your life or someone else&#8217;s.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><strong>Q: Are there different pieces of equipment that are really only meant for one type of series or another?\u00a0<\/strong><br \/>\nA:\u00a0 <em>Yes, SFI 15-20 rating suits are primarily for Bonneville and Drag racing.\u00a0Funny Car boots are for Drag Racing.\u00a0Transmission blankets are drag racing.\u00a0Bell housing blankets are for Tractor Pullers.\u00a0Parachutes don\u2019t work on dirt tracks.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><strong>Q: If a racer can do one thing, or purchase one thing to keep him or herself safer, what would it be?<\/strong><br \/>\nA:\u00a0 <em>Everything!\u00a0Just buy the best safety equipment money can buy.\u00a0It\u2019s like insurance in so many ways.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Note:\u00a0In the event of a
