Right behind Kenseth at the finish was Kyle Larson and in hot pursuit was Chase Elliott.<\/p>\n<p>The two young guns battled Kenseth for the lead in the final 35 laps with first Larson making a charge.\u00a0Then Elliott went low to get to second and tried twice to make a pass.\u00a0Then Larson came back to pass Elliott and just barely missed his chance to get by Kenseth by .187-of a second.\u00a0It was close, with Larson diving low and Kenseth\u2019s high groove had the speed and the ability to keep Larson frustrated and behind him.<\/p>\n<p>If the all-concrete Monster Mile\u2019s reputation was destroying race cars, it certainly earned it, taking out 18 cars in a major pileup with 46 laps to go.\u00a0The accordion-style crash started in turn one and didn\u2019t stop for next 15 seconds, sending notable cars of Kevin Harvick, Kyle Busch, Joey Logano, Jimmie Johnson, and frontrunner, Martin Truex, Jr.\u00a0Jimmie Johnson, at the time running second, couldn\u2019t shift gears on the restart, causing the major melee behind him.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.racingjunk.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/05\/DIS_NSCS_BO_0515162.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" data-attachment-id=\"27291\" data-permalink=\"https:\/\/www.racingjunk.com\/news\/dover-proves-demanding-on-nascar-teams\/nascar-sprint-cup-series-aaa-400-drive-for-autism-2\/\" data-orig-file=\"https:\/\/www.racingjunk.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/05\/DIS_NSCS_BO_0515162.jpg\" data-orig-size=\"2648,1608\" data-comments-opened=\"1\" data-image-meta=\"{&quot;aperture&quot;:&quot;3.5&quot;,&quot;credit&quot;:&quot;Getty Images&quot;,&quot;camera&quot;:&quot;Canon EOS-1D X&quot;,&quot;caption&quot;:&quot;DOVER, DE - MAY 15:  Matt Kenseth, driver of the #20 Dollar General Toyota, celebrates after winning the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series AAA 400 Drive for Autism at Dover International Speedway on May 15, 2016 in Dover, Delaware.
