Tony Stewart, the three time NASCAR Sprint Cup Champ, who has missed the first eight races of the Sprint Cup season due to injury sustained in an ATV accident, is finally ready to return to racing this weekend at Richmond International Raceway.<\/p>\n

From Steve O\u2019Donnell, NASCAR<\/span> Executive Vice President and Chief Racing Development Officer,\u00a0\u201cNASCAR<\/span> received the appropriate medical clearance documentation allowing Tony Stewart to resume normal racing activities. We also have granted the request from Stewart-Haas Racing for a waiver for Tony to be eligible to qualify for the Chase for the NASCAR<\/span> Sprint Cup. As he begins his final season, we wish Tony the best of luck.\u201d<\/p>\n

Stewart-Haas racing has kept the engines warm with fill-in drivers Brian Vickers and Ty Dillon.<\/p>\n

Stewart made the announcement via Twitter: “”The Dr’s said my scans “looked much better than they thought they would after 3 months”. So they cleared me.”<\/p>\n
