Densham, 69, from Bellflower, Calif., was checked and released by NHRA emergency services officials following an incident with his Funny Car going out of control and crashing in the shutdown area during the third qualifying session. The parachutes on Densham&#8217;s Dodge Charger Funny Car failed to deploy, which resulted in a failure to slow down his car following a career-best 4.050 second run at 307.70 mph, good enough to qualify 11th in the 16 car order.
