The 2014 Dakar Rally kicks off Stage 3 today with a 412 mile trek across the open terrain of Argentina. The route will have competitors passing through the Pre-Andes mountains to test their high mountain driving techniques with motorcyclists climbing up to 14,107 feet in altitude.<\/p>\n

For those new to the sport, the Dakar Rally is equal parts race and survival adventure, and features a combination of motorcycles, quads, cars and trucks battling 2,667 miles of harsh desert conditions in a span of 13 days.<\/p>\n
