DIRTcar has officially announced the format and payout for the 2016 Late Model Summer Nationals championship.<\/p>\n

The 2016 schedule will be divided into five separate weeks where weekly champions will be crowned and rewarded from a weekly point fund. Each of the weekly point funds will pay the top ten drivers for that week, with $2,000 being awarded to the week’s champion. Any driver who wishes to compete for a position in the points\u00a0must at least attempt to qualify for all races during that week. Each Monday, the points fund will be reset and transferred to the series championship standings.<\/p>\n

The Late Model Summer Nationals championship will be awarded to the competitor who has earned the highest amount of cumulative points throughout the entire tour. The championship points fund of $30,000 will pay the top five finishers, with the winner taking $15,000.<\/p>\n

“We are excited to introduce this new format for the DIRTcar Late Model Summer Nationals championship,” said Sam Driggers, DIRTcar UMP Director. “We believe this new feature will add a special dimension to the 2016 Summer Nationals and provide extra incentive and competition in one of the most grueling schedules in all of motorsports.”<\/p>\n

The Summer Nationals will take place on the 3\/8 mile oval of Plymouth on July 12 before heading North to Meritt in Lake City, Michigan on July 15.<\/p>\n
