The Vic Edelbrock Sr. Scholarship Award is a way to honor two people simultaneously – a student who embodies the commitment to performance and automotive excellence that defines Edelbrock Performance<\/a>, and the man, Vic Edelbrock, Sr., for whom the award is named.<\/p>\n

Presented this year at SEMA, on day 4 of the auto industry trade juggernaut, the Edelbrock Scholarship award went to Scott Brown – a WyoTech<\/a> automotive student from Blairsville, PA.\u00a0 Scott served in the Army for four years before attending WyoTech with the intention of opening his own automotive performance shop.\u00a0 \u201cI want to design high performance systems for everyday cars. In other words, tear apart brand new cars and make them better,\u201d Brown said.<\/p>\n

The Vic Edelbrock Sr. Scholarship Award is presented to students and graduates who have shown excellent attendance and earned top grades during their studies at an automotive trade school.\u00a0 The competition for the $5000 scholarship is fierce, and Brown won out over a tough, and worthy, field of competitors, scoring 10 out of 10 points for his work ethic, character and ambition.<\/p>\n

\u201cScott is an outstanding student and we\u2019re thrilled that he was awarded the Edelbrock scholarship,\u201d said Art Herman, WyoTech Blairsville campus president. \u201cNot only is he a deserving United States veteran, but he also achieved the highest score possible in three of his automotive core program classes, and continues to excel in his studies.\u201d<\/p>\n

Vic Edelbrock, Jr, Chairman of Edelbrock LLC, presented the scholarship to Scott, and his mother, both of who were attending SEMA for the first time to receive the award.\u00a0 \u201cWith a 4.0 GPA and a strong work ethic, Scott was our first choice for the scholarship that honors the memory of my father,\u201d said Vic Edelbrock, chairman of Edelbrock LLC. \u201cScott\u2019s integrity and his passion for performance were evident throughout the interview process. It was great to meet him and his mother, Judy.”<\/p>\n

The desire to build high-performance engines and to be employed in the automotive aftermarket are just a few of the qualities required of the scholarship recipient, and Scott is clearly on his way to building a career in the field, helped along now by the generosity of Edelbrock.<\/p>\n
