They\u2019re an impressive carburetor, but we\u2019re not quite done yet. Check out the following:<\/p>\n<p>Not mentioned elsewhere is the surface finish on the Gen 3 Dominator carbs. They\u2019re available in what Holley calls, \u201cHardcore Gray\u201d. This isn&#8217;t just a surface finish on the main body and bowls to sell parts. Instead, it\u2019s a hard coat anodizing. The idea here is to keep the carburetor looking good for an extended period of time. It is cool though in that it contrasts nicely with the black anodized metering blocks. By the way, the big carburetors are also available with a polished body with your choice of a red or black anodized aluminum components (metering blocks, boosters, bowl fuel fittings, etc.). Obviously, the extra volume reduces the chance of fuel starvation. When you take a closer look at the bowls (see the accompanying images) you can see a unique \u201cshelf\u201d situated below the needle and seat. What this does is to minimize fuel aeration. Additionally, a special trough has been built into the bowl. The purpose is to direct fuel to the jets. Certainly, this trough keeps the jets covered, but it what it does is to stabilize the air fuel ratios. The bowls are also baffled internally. The idea here is to keep fuel slosh to a minimum when you get on the throttle. Also included is a set of new secondary jet extensions. Bowl inlets are machined in 8AN (o-ringed). This makes plumbing easy, and like earlier examples, the bowls are threaded and tapped on either side. Holley includes AN plugs on one end of each bowl along a -6 AN to -8AN fitting on the opposite end. Like all earlier 50cc setups, the accelerator pump cams are replaceable and tunable. You\u2019ll too that the pump shooters have a new screw (to fasten them in place). Holley even took the time to think about the screw and how it can affect airflow across the carb. FYI, Holley also notes that the TPS setup can also be used for a computer controlled transmission (for example, any of the electronic late model Turbo Hydramatic overdrives). Holley offers a throttle position sensor separately &#8212; P\/N 534-214. With this setup, the TPS simply attaches to the body of the Dominator by way of a couple of screws. There are three wires to hook up:<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Blue = Output Wire<br \/>\n\u2022 Black = Ground<br \/>\n\u2022 Grey = +5 Volt Reference<\/p>\n<p>As you can easily see, the latest Gen 3 Dominators are totally modern. They offer huge advances over earlier models and it\u2019s clear they offer massive amounts of tuning capability. To make it sweeter, the new big Holley\u2019s are simple to tune too. \u201cBiggest, Baddest &amp; Best\u201d? No question.
